She was just having a rotten day. We were able to visit the treasure chest and talk about memories and how they help us get through the hard days. She selected a small token from the treasure chest that actually reminded her of her grandmother. It was a moment that I will carry with me because the small critter she chose was so much more than a toy. It was a conversation about grief, how we remember those we love, and connection to those around us... and she left that day with a little smile on her face and few less tears in her heart.\r\n\r\nAnd that matters so much more to me as a teacher than anything else.","fullyFundedDate":1768495241313,"projectUrl":"project/bookaneer-best-day-treasure-chest/9875275/","projectTitle":"Bookaneer \"Best Day\" Treasure Chest","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wear","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10012387_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759199272258","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/bookaneers"},{"teacherId":10012387,"projectId":9974527,"letterContent":"Color-coding our kitchens in the FACS room has been one of the smarter ideas I've come up with as a newer teacher. The guilty parties 'fessed up and took their things back to their own kitchen. \r\n\r\nAs the teacher in the lab I can tell you having new items does make the kids take better care of the equipment and take better responsibility for the condition of their kitchens. This skill is literally life changing but is also empowering for students when they can handle a potential emergency with confidence. \r\nBy far, the Ready or Not Tots have been the most impactful activity as the babies simulate real life in many ways.
