These pants have already been used for student toileting and having accidents while learning. When transitioning to underwear, there tends to be unplanned accidents, and it makes it easy to have a clean pair of pants on hand. We have also used them in a case where a student spilled their juice on their lap when trying to drink. She normally had clothing, but they have not been updated and were too small for her. My students are learning about books with these sensory themed books in the project. My students have discrete trials with attending to books and having fun engaging, sensory books, their ability to stay focused has increased. I now see students navigate to the books on their own without prompting, and of course they have favorites. I have noticed some new words said and others navigate the AAC device and touch images that correlate to the images in the book. I love seeing how they are navigating the world around them and making connections from the book to words and images on the iPad. Having the tools to engage and make learning fun is key to my students taking part in activities and being able to keep them interested and learning. I have placed the sensory items within my sensory corner. I do find students going over to the beanbag there and taking a fidget or sensory. I also have a mini trampoline in the space. They do like using the sensory tubes while on the trampoline. It is not only used for times of them needing a break, but also as a proffered activity to work for during trials. These sensory items have also been used when my students are at assemblies and need a fidget to support them, which can be hard at times to sit for such long periods.
