The cozy new rug has truly transformed our learning space into a warm and inviting environment. The rug has become the heart of our classroom—offering a soft, welcoming place where students feel comfortable and focused.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first walked in and saw the new rug, their faces lit up with excitement. Several students immediately dropped to their knees to feel how soft it was. It was such a joyful moment, and since then, the rug has been a favorite spot for both learning and relaxing. They were all very excited to have a such a variety of seeds to choose from when deciding what to grow in our school gardens. \r\nFirst, my Garden Club students planted at least one of every kind we had in the spring/summer seeds. We even got community help to build two more raised bed gardens to accommodate all the different fruits and vegetables! They have loved caring for our seedlings and tracking their growth. We are finally going to plant them in our new beds next week! they are learning so much about germination, plant varieties, and how different plants have different needs. This fall we are planning to plant different crops like pumpkins and squash in our green house!\r\nNext, my first grade students are exploring Environmental Engineering. They already learned in their classrooms about plant parts and basic needs. So we explored what plants need from the soil and now we are testing if we can meet those needs another way...in a hydroponic garden! All students love checking out all the plants growing in my STEM Lab, and my 1st graders are beyond proud. \r\nBoth groups cannot wait to harvest all of the delicious fruits and vegetables, and then take their new knowledge to start a garden at home! Not having to wait for students to try and squeeze together in bulky chairs is saving us so much time and energy and allowing us to focus on more important things.
