Because of your generosity, our classroom has been filled with more music, more joy, and more opportunities for students to thrive.\r\n\r\nThe boomwhackers have been a huge hit during our music elective! Students love experimenting with rhythm and sound, and I've watched even the shyest kids light up when they get to join in. For many, it's their favorite part of the week.\r\n\r\nOur special needs students have especially enjoyed the floor cushions and the sequin sensory pillow covers. These simple additions have made our space feel safe and welcoming, giving students a chance to regulate, refocus, and fully engage with learning. I can't tell you how many smiles I've seen because of those sequins being flipped back and forth.\r\n\r\nAnd every morning, I'm reminded of your impact in another way—when a student grabs a NutraGrain bar on their way in. For some, it's the quick bite they need to start the day ready to learn. What might seem small is actually a lifeline, and it means more than words can express.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our classroom is more than just a room—it's a space where students feel cared for, encouraged, and inspired to create. Thank you for believing in them, and for believing in the power of music, comfort, and kindness.","fullyFundedDate":1752586238207,"projectUrl":"project/let-the-rhythm-move-us-building-a-creat/9457518/","projectTitle":"Let the Rhythm Move Us: Building a Creative Learning Space","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sturgill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6464771_orig.jpg?crop=812,812,x20,y190&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752196030491","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6464771"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_29110","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":210,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":54,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":44,"percentWhite":31,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.4,"schoolId":29110,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pontiac Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pontiac Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/pontiac-wm-holliday-sd-105/pontiac-junior-high-school/29110"}
