I now have enough supplies for every child for everything they need. This is such a wonderful feeling. My students and I adored opening all the packages of supplies. Now my students are using all the fresh pencils, erasers, crayons and markers every day. Being able to add art to their work is not only fun for them, but deepens their understanding of what they learned. Most of my students are black and brown, so having pens, pencils and crayons with colors of the world is essential for racial representation. Having enough folders for everyone is something wonderful for me as I support student organization. We use the highlighters for reading and math, and the wipes and hand sanitizer are used more than once a day to keep us healthy. I wish you could see the students each day when they are so excited about the new seating. They adore the bean bag chair which is in the calm corner. When students need to calm down they can plop into this indestructible chair and have time to calm down. When it's time to read, students take turns in the new foldable floor chairs. They love these chairs to much! And the wobble cushions have been extremely popular. I have a few students with special needs who get to use the cushions daily, and the rest of the children takes turns with the cushions on their chairs. Every child has learned how to be patient waiting their turn, and has enjoyed each types of seating. I love that they are learning to wait their turn, and also that the seating is supporting calming down, reading and paying attention during lessons. My students use the math materials every day. Yesterday they partnered up and used the abacus hundred counters to add four different numbers within one hundred. When I opened the boxed my students were so excited. In the past we only had two large hundred abacus. Thanks to your generosity we now have fifteen more small hundred abacus that the students can use anytime they need. We love them. The small bin or centimeter cubes also click together to represent ten. I use these all the time when demonstrating how to measure with centimeters and also how ten ones makes a ten. Base ten concepts are critical to the developmental age of my students. Thank you so much for your support of hands-on math in my classroom. They were excited to see the variety of snacks available and appreciated knowing that they could have something to eat when they were hungry. The space also gives students a comfortable place to relax and recharge during breaks. Everyone who enters the room is excited to see the new space. Students especially love exploring the fidget toys and relaxing on the bean bags.
