Because of you, our room no longer feels like rows of desks but like a space designed for thinking, collaborating, and growing. You gave us more than furniture. You gave us choice, comfort, and a classroom that better reflects how students actually learn. \r\n\r\nWe began using the new seating immediately. During our recent novel unit, students spread out naturally. Some curled up on deep chairs with their novels, others leaned forward on floor seating while annotating passages, and small groups clustered together to debate character choices. The quality of conversation deepened. Students stayed engaged longer, listened more closely, and were noticeably more willing to share their thinking. \r\n\r\nWe just completed a major writing project where students drafted analytical essays connected to our class novel. Flexible seating has become part of their writing process. Some students choose grounded seating when planning and outlining, while others move to more relaxed options for drafting and revising. Students workshoped their essays in peer groups, and the seating allows those groups to form and reform easily, supporting collaboration and thoughtful feedback. \r\n\r\nBy contributing to this project, you stepped into our classroom and helped shape the daily experience of learning here. Your generosity shows up every day in increased focus, confidence, and joy. Thank you for believing in our students and for helping create a space where they can do their best work.","fullyFundedDate":1761924772112,"projectUrl":"project/coffee-shop-classroom-environment/9557071/","projectTitle":"Coffee Shop Classroom Environment","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kate","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp288663_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1470946851390","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-vancleve"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36731","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":603,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":51,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":41,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"17.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":36731,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pioneer Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pioneer Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/walla-walla-school-district-140/pioneer-middle-school/36731"}
