In precalculus, one of the most meaningful moments happened during a lesson on graphing sinusoids. Instead of staying at their desks, students moved around the room leaving feedback about the student's work on each individual white board. The boards made it easy for them to revise and explain their thinking, and I saw students who usually hesitate become more willing to take risks because mistakes could be quickly erased and learned from. The room felt energized, and the boards transformed the activity into a truly hands-on learning experience.\r\n\r\nCurrently, my students are finishing a unit on systems of equations, and the whiteboards will play a huge role in helping them explore solutions visually. Their next steps include using the boards to graph multiple lines, identify points of intersection, and justify their reasoning to their peers. We'll also be using them for quick checks for understanding, math talks, and group challenges where students rotate between boards to solve increasingly complex problems. These tools are helping us build a classroom culture where students take the lead in showing, explaining, and refining their math thinking.","fullyFundedDate":1760663948834,"projectUrl":"project/wipe-and-write-whiteboards-for-all/9810233/","projectTitle":"Wipe and Write! While many of our donors may use technology at home, the way students interact with this tool in school is unique. The document camera allows us to project student work, demonstrations, and problem-solving in real time, helping all students follow along, see different approaches, and understand complex concepts more clearly.\r\n\r\nWhat excites our students the most about the document camera is being able to share their thinking with the entire class. They love seeing their work displayed and being able to explain their reasoning, which boosts confidence and encourages active participation.","fullyFundedDate":1757983027838,"projectUrl":"project/model-feedback-and-explicit-instructio/9525667/","projectTitle":"Model, Feedback, and Explicit Instruction using a new Document Camera","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Reiter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7385846"},{"teacherId":7385846,"projectId":8568933,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donation. With your donation I was able to purchase an whiteboards, erasers, markers, and a digital timer to help support student learning through explicit instruction and immediate feedback. Students are able to write their thinking and receive immediate feedback to improve their understanding of the content.\r\n\r\nUsing the whiteboards with students has allowed students become comfortable with error analysis with their peers. With the ability to present work immediately, students are able to receive immediate feedback from the teacher as well as their peers. Students enjoy using the whiteboards to give feedback to their peers as well as present their solutions to the class.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, we received markers and erasers to use with the whiteboards. Students love choosing their marker color(s) to write their solutions with during class.
