The sports books, in particular, have been incredibly popular. It makes me so happy to see students making a beeline for a book during Free Voluntary Reading time instead of dragging their feet and complaining. \r\n\r\nWe read at least once a week to not only build our language skills, but also our general literacy, which is so crucial for students these days. We also use the books as a starting point to do additional speaking activities and writing prompts. It's so refreshing for students to be doing extension activities on books they actually like, rather than viewing it (and learning) as more drudgery.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for helping me to diversify the offerings in my classroom library and giving my students choices that they enjoy!","fullyFundedDate":1760628812223,"projectUrl":"project/the-best-of-the-books/9600884/","projectTitle":"The Best of the Books","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8005212_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x34,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1629634406857","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8005212"},{"teacherId":6951996,"projectId":8756610,"letterContent":"I noticed a few years ago that many of our students in high school have not read a book since their early elementary years and I feel that many skills are lacking due to a need for reading. It was with great delight that I found books relevant to my curriculum, which can be very difficult as there does not exist a singular textbook for the variation in subject matter we cover. \r\n\r\nIn the classroom, we read chapters and then discuss them together as well as often creating projects based on what we read. This can vary between posters or presentations using programs such as PowerPoint or online resources like Canva and I found the projects on this book to be very interesting!\r\n\r\nI am so thrilled that you have helped not only my students, but the community as a whole now that they will be better prepared for everything in the future. Your dedication to education is what makes teaching worthwhile and the kids benefit greatly.","fullyFundedDate":1734623027475,"projectUrl":"project/understanding-terrorism-for-first-respon/8756610/","projectTitle":"Understanding Terrorism for First Responders","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Petrie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6951996_orig.jpg?crop=1536,1536,x0,y256&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725984037493","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-petrie-pphs"},{"teacherId":8005212,"projectId":8893690,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping provide some stability and normalcy for my students.
