The sports books, in particular, have been incredibly popular. It makes me so happy to see students making a beeline for a book during Free Voluntary Reading time instead of dragging their feet and complaining. \r\n\r\nWe read at least once a week to not only build our language skills, but also our general literacy, which is so crucial for students these days. We also use the books as a starting point to do additional speaking activities and writing prompts.
