The testing dividers have helped students stay focused during independent reading and assessments, and the highlighters and markers have been perfect for practicing our reading comprehension strategies. One of my favorite moments was watching students annotate a nonfiction article using their new highlighters—they were eagerly marking key details, circling vocabulary, and discussing their choices with partners. It was a simple activity, but the tools made it feel exciting and purposeful.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were thrilled. They immediately noticed the bright new markers and the big class pencil sharpener, and several students asked if they could \"please sharpen all their pencils right now.\" The decks of cards were also a huge hit. Students couldn't wait to use them in our math centers, where we've been practicing addition, subtraction, and multiplication through partner games and strategy challenges.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these materials will continue to support our current lessons. Students will use the highlighters and markers for text-annotation work as we prepare for upcoming assessments, and the testing dividers will help them maintain focus during independent tasks. In math, the card decks will be used for new center games that build fact fluency and strategic thinking. These resources have already made our classroom more organized, focused, and engaging. Thank you so much for supporting our learning in such meaningful ways.","fullyFundedDate":1758546567055,"projectUrl":"project/kick-off-to-a-great-year/9414017/","projectTitle":"Kick off to a Great Year","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Davies","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp549066_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749864219189","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/lebandos"},{"teacherId":9717283,"projectId":9073101,"letterContent":"I am writing to extend my heartfelt thanks for your generous contribution towards our Scholastic StoryWorks subscription. It is so helpful to supplement a curriculum with additional opportunities for students to read and have books in their hands. With Reading A-Z, my students are able to read with printed books as well as online. The texts are leveled so they support all learners.
