When I first spoke about and showed them pictures of what was in the store, they were filled with excitement. They are so excited to earn Dojo Bucks to spend at the store. When they come in, they get to look around at the items, decide what they want to buy, and determine if they can afford to buy the item based on the money that they have. They understand that when they come to me, to checkout, they have to count out their money to me. The students are advised that they don't have to spend all of their money at one time. Some students said they wanted to save up their money to get certain items that were a little more expensive. Students are rewarded Dojo Bucks for their behavior both in and out of the classroom, attendance, responsibility (homework, etc.), and achievements (scoring well on assessments, etc.). Kids sometimes need to move to help them pay attention, and chair bands give them a quiet way to do that. They pushed their feet against the band while sitting, which helped them focus on what we were learning instead of wiggling around. This simple tool helped many students stay calm and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThese bands also made our classroom better for everyone. Some kids just have more energy, or they might have trouble sitting still. Chair bands gave them a way to get that energy out without bothering anyone.
