Your generosity filled both my heart and the heart of my students with joy and excitement for our upcoming production. \r\n\r\nI also need to apologize for how long it has taken me to complete this thank you package. The truth is, I've been in a period of mourning. When we began with casting and our first read through in mid-November everyone was ready and willing to put in the work. Our initial rehearsals were productive and filled with excitement. But, when we returned from the Winter Break, something changed. I slowly began to see attitudes and behaviors that were concerning. Bullying, competition, missing rehearsals with no explanation, arguing, fighting, and inappropriate and destructive behavior was becoming more and more prevalent with this 5th grade class. For example, several students began falsely reporting each other for bullying to get students removed from the production. Behaviors in the restroom called for supervised and limited number of students which took valuable rehearsals time away from us. One student in the show was suspended, then two more while others were dangerously close to suspension as well. As you can imagine, this greatly impacted the quality of our rehearsals and the students level of preparedness. \r\n\r\nAt six weeks before Tech week, I knew we could not continue. I was unsure firstly as to whether more students would behave in ways that would result in suspension and my concern over the students doing what needed to be done to allow this production to go forward. I was truly heart broken. With my principal's support, we cancelled the show. This was the first time in my 25 year career to have to make that difficult decision. I have continued to grieve this loss but only a couple of students and their parents have even said anything about their disappointment. That hurt almost as much as having to cancel.\r\n\r\nSo, here I am at the end of the school year...working through the stages of grief. Thankfully, there is hope for next year. Regardless of how difficult this year was I will not give up. The materials you so generously provided will be used for next year's show. With a renewed sense of determination and support, we will rise to perform again.","fullyFundedDate":1733290929364,"projectUrl":"project/self-funded-musical-for-2024-2025/8649919/","projectTitle":"Self-Funded Musical for 2024-2025","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hager","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9215933"},{"teacherId":9619661,"projectId":8822891,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of headphones to our classroom. Your kindness has made a meaningful and lasting impact on both our learning environment and our students' ability to engage in their education. These headphones have allowed students to work more independently, stay focused, and use technology in ways that support their unique learning needs. They are now able to concentrate on their assignments without being distracted or interrupting one another, creating a more peaceful and productive classroom atmosphere.\r\n\r\nThe headphones have especially benefited students who require additional support, including those who struggle with reading fluency, comprehension, and language development. With the ability to listen to texts read aloud or engage in auditory learning tools, these students now feel more confident and included in the learning process. Many of them have expressed how much easier it is to stay on task and understand their lessons when they can use the headphones. It has made a noticeable difference in their engagement and overall attitude toward learning.\r\n\r\nThis donation also allows us to better implement individualized instruction. Students are now able to work at their own pace using educational software and learning programs tailored to their specific skill levels. This is a huge help in meeting each child where they are, and it provides the flexibility we need to truly support diverse learners. The headphones have helped reduce noise levels, which is a tremendous benefit, especially during independent reading time, testing, and small group work.\r\n\r\nYour generosity not only provided a much-needed resource, but it also sent a powerful message to our students: that people in the community care about their education and believe in their potential. For many of our students, school is a place of consistency and hope, and when they see others investing in their success, it motivates them to try even harder. Your donation reminded them that they matter.\r\n\r\nThe students were incredibly excited when the headphones arrived. They couldn't wait to use them, and they've already shared how much they love being able to concentrate better and feel more independent while working. Something as simple as a pair of headphones has brought joy, confidence, and new opportunities to our classroom—and that's all because of you.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of every student who benefits from your generosity, and from myself as their teacher, thank you once again for this meaningful gift. We are so grateful for your support and for the difference you've made in our learning environment. Your kindness will continue to have a positive impact throughout the school year and beyond.","fullyFundedDate":1734099451205,"projectUrl":"project/chrome-book-headphones-and-storage/8822891/","projectTitle":"Chrome Book Headphones and Storage","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Chumley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9619661"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_48826","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":376,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":60,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":53,"percentWhite":27,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":67.9,"schoolId":48826,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pine Forest Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pine Forest Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arkansas/pulaski-county-special-school-district/pine-forest-elementary-school/48826"}
