Place value math is huge in second grade as students are now learning numbers to 1,000. The straws have been crucial in this understanding. They have been able to bundle the straws and create groups of ten, then hundreds, and finally- 1,000!\r\n\r\nWe have also really enjoyed reading The Chocolate Touch together. Each student has their own copy of the book and we are able to dig deeper into literature reading comprehension with this book! \r\n\r\nFinally, the large, visual timer is one of my favorite items from this project! I use it every day, multiple times a day!
