We are a Title 1 school, with a diverse, low income student base. Many of our students rely on us to provide the basic supplies. Most cannot contribute items to the classroom like some other schools ask. Fundraisers are usually not met with success, so our budget is near zero.\r\n Your generosity has supplied my classroom with a couple of non-traditional items. We now have a good sized refrigerator so the kids can bring lunch from home and it won't spoil. They can bring drinks and water, and they won't get hot. You also provided us with a microwave. There are 3 of these in the cafeteria to be used by almost 600 students per lunch period. My classroom is half a school length away from the cafeteria, so my students are last in long lines to heat up their food. Now, they come to my room before going to the cafeteria to heat their lunches. To many who have the modern conveniences, these may seem like frivolous items for a classroom. To my students, it means cold drinks, hot meals, and not going without because they can't afford to purchase a hot lunch.\r\n You also provided traditional supplies such as glue sticks, pens, post-it notes, EXPO markers, and board cleaning cloths. These items usually fall on a \"Teacher's Wish List\" and parents help by donating to the classroom. Our parents are taking care of feeding and clothing their students. We cannot ask them to donate. Our markers and glue sticks were almost used up. We ran out of pens at the end of last year. Board supplies are always in demand, as my classes use the white boards daily. Post-its are a staple in my classroom as well. As a teacher, I can only give so much financial support to my classroom. You provided the things that were lacking, and I cannot thank you enough for your support!","fullyFundedDate":1760658638428,"projectUrl":"project/avid-and-early-college-students-path-to/9465328/","projectTitle":"AVID and Early College Students Path to Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Winn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10080569"},{"teacherId":5262515,"projectId":9518772,"letterContent":"These stopwatches were a life-saver for keeping us on schedule for our labs. We like to schedule our labs when they are relevant to the topics we are teaching. With your help, we were able to do them at the right time, making them most meaningful for the students. Using the stopwatches, my students were able to determine the speed of a bowling ball rolling down the hallway, calculate the height and speed of an air rocket, measure the acceleration of a ball rolling down an incline, and track the distance traveled by a projectile. Timing objects was a critical step in all of these labs, as well as many more we have planned for the rest of the school year. I was also able to share these stopwatches with the physics team, so they were used by over 450 students!\r\n\r\nStudents love doing labs, and I cannot convey the joy I see when they walk in and all I say is, \"We're doing a lab today.\" They get quiet, listen to instructions, and are ready to start collecting data.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your support!","fullyFundedDate":1755698455919,"projectUrl":"project/stopwatches-for-physics-help-keep-our-l/9518772/","projectTitle":"Stopwatches for Physics: Help Keep Our Labs Running on Time!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Torres","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5262515_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1528744832092","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/m-t-"},{"teacherId":5262515,"projectId":9235442,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting my classroom with books and enrichment materials. As we closed out the last school year, students used these resources to relax after final exams—whether it was making origami animals, coloring, learning chess strategies, or reading science-related books.\r\nThis year, students are excited to have these materials available after completing their daily practice assignments and assessments. I've created a student bookshelf that includes the books, origami paper, coloring sheets, and other creative activities. Your contribution made it possible for us to conduct two hands-on labs on simple harmonic motion, where students determined the spring constant of their spring in two different ways. I've included some photos to show the results and the lab setup.\r\n\r\nThe light bulbs were also incredibly helpful for our three circuit labs this year.
