They have used them for a few different projects now, and their enthusiasm has only grown. They continue to look for ways to use them in their work. The materials are well made and the battery life has lasted for quite a while. I have only needed to charge them twice since the arrival of the shipment. \r\n These items have helped students understand that if they make a mistake, they do not have to start over from the beginning. We have discussed the history of Master Artists and apprentices and how and where using other people's work is appropriate. For the first time in years, my students are showing a deeper understanding the difference between tracing and referencing an image. They are more confident now that there is a tool available for them to help with small areas that they are struggling with.\r\n I have one student in particular who wants to use the light board all the time. This student has a vision impairment, and having the back lighting behind whatever he is working on creates more contrast. This contrast helps him to see his work clearly. \r\nI am currently planning another Donors Choose project for sensory materials that will allow my EC students to explore writing and drawing on the whiteboards by manipulating the materials over the light. Kind of like sand painting. I feel like this is something that they will really enjoy. Thank you so much for what you have done for us.","fullyFundedDate":1746544817269,"projectUrl":"project/light-up-my-art/9035139/","projectTitle":"Light Up My Art","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Olson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp655151_orig.jpg?crop=1536,1536,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736879103638","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/inspiringgreatness"},{"teacherId":655151,"projectId":9047520,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your support. \r\nMy students were so excited to see the materials when they showed up. They wanted to take them out of the boxes and pose the mannequins right away. So that they could start working on drawing people right away. Some of the students were even very protective of the materials, helping me count them before and after we used them each day. There were even students who stayed after school to help me clean out a cabinet so that there would be a safe place to store them. My classes were so happy to find out there were people who were willing to donate and support art classes. It was an uplifting feeling for all of us. There have always been so many things that we wanted to try, make, or do that we had to pass up because of funding. It was especially exciting and uplifting for my National Art Honors Students, who spend much of their time trying to raise money and support for the visual arts in our school.\r\nThe lamps were a huge blessing in the room as well. For each student to be able to adjust the lighting at their table individually has been wonderful. Students (and the teacher) who have frequent migraines due to light sensitivity can use the desk lamps instead of the overhead fluorescent lights. The desk lamps have a warm light color, and the brightness has 3 different levels. Allowing for students to have more control over their environment. When we are working on a still life, having directional light to emphasize values has made a huge difference in student comprehension and identification of form and cast shadows. These lights also help students create more professional photographs of their artwork for a personal archive and college portfolio presentation.\r\nAll of these items are being used more and more as we progress throughout the semester. Having these items allows for more individual instruction for students. Having actual physical models in the classroom has made a huge difference; students have been able to view models from all directions and pose them as they like. The improvement in the student understanding has allowed us to move beyond just drawing figures of people, but now students are exploring drawing figures of animals and dragons. \r\nThank you so much for your help and support. The Person High School art students and teacher are very grateful.\r\n\r\nThank you \r\nMrs. O","fullyFundedDate":1746543636713,"projectUrl":"project/old-school-upgrade/9047520/","projectTitle":"Old School Upgrade!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Olson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp655151_orig.jpg?crop=1536,1536,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736879103638","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/inspiringgreatness"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_3218","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1170,"numTeachers":78,"percentFrplEligible":91,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":34,"percentWhite":44,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":73.2,"schoolId":3218,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Person High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Person High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/person-county-school-district/person-high-school/3218"}
