The manipulatives have helped so much with the transition of a topic that is foreign to most students. Fractions, by definition, is always a struggle with multi-lingual students. The fact that they can now physically see them in front of them has been a game changer.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw all of the new materials they were so excited to dig in and use them. Historically, these types of learners are very hands-on, so I knew right away that having the ability to touch and work with these items was going to be a huge help. I love what I do, so to see the students succeed and smile while they work is rewarding for me.\r\n\r\nNext steps for my students is to really dive deeper into using things like fractions and decimals. Using the cameras will help solve concepts of the unit that would otherwise not make sense without the real-world application with the camera. Technology fails us all the time, and having a printer in my room allows me to easily print work. I can also print specific materials for students who need them.
