There's so, so much to it, and I have been behind on updates for how the first year teaching supplies have been going. Though it's been a whirlwind, it has been such a privilege to begin my teaching career with my current students. I feel right at home in my role and in my classroom. I am honored to be an educator, cheerleader, and role model for my students, and I couldn't have done it without all your help!\r\n\r\nI've included pictures of how some of the items from my Donors Choose project have been used, and most all of these items are used daily. The rainbow cart provides the space for an organized and prepped full week of lessons for both Language Arts and Social Studies. It also stores my students' turned in materials and STEM notebooks. I put \"Books of the Week\" on the cart, too. It's been amazing, and probably my favorite of all the project supplies!\r\n\r\nOther materials have also allowed me a smooth transition into a fluid classroom environment as a new teacher. These include a class set of clipboards and dry erase boards, a paper sorter, a monthly calendar and inserts, a magnetic notebook paper where I include our daily objectives for each subject, and more! Every item I put on the project was thoughtfully curated, and I'm pleased to say that each has exceeded my original uses and expectations.\r\n\r\nThe students are very respectful of our classroom supplies and space, which I am grateful for. The stools from my project are also a big hit for them, which I use at small group at my desk. Everyone works hard to keep our classroom clean and functional, which all begins with the materials you helped me receive just days before the school year began!\r\n\r\nThank you again so much for contributing to my project many months ago. Throughout our daily routines, we use our hygienic supplies to keep us healthy, confident, and ready to learn. Not only have my students stayed relatively healthy this year, but so have I thanks to your donations! This allows our whole classroom community to stay engaged and on task without feeling unwell or unclean.\r\n\r\nIt's also been amazing to see how these items allow students to feel more confident and comfortable with themselves and one another. With the deodorant wipes, we even have a classroom job where someone passes out the deodorant wipes after recess (a student requested this job early in the year - wasn't even an intention of mine otherwise!). The students gladly and without shame accept a deodorant wipe daily, and others have begun bringing in their own little deodorants for this time. No one feels worried to hide these hygienic supplies from one another, which is phenomenal to see as a 5th grade teacher. I remember when I was their age, things like owning up to using deodorant or getting hand sanitizer when asked were utterly embarrassing. \r\n\r\nThank you again so much for contributing to our 5th grade classroom for hygienic supplies! I notice the lasting impact in how it boosts their self-esteem, boosts their focus for learning, and boosts their joy for school. It's been a treasure to provide these hygienic supplies for them because so many of them live in space that don't have the ability to give such supplies consistently. These supplies allow my students to feel safe, heard, and cared for. Thank you for allowing these things to blossom!","fullyFundedDate":1749850326053,"projectUrl":"project/5th-grade-essential-classroom-hygiene-su/9386257/","projectTitle":"5th Grade Essential Classroom Hygiene Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dreghorn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9771196_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726874480372","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-dreghorn"},{"teacherId":8918383,"projectId":9387398,"letterContent":"I am so grateful for your assistance in building a STEM library suitable for kindergarten to fifth grade students. Now they have access to even more books to spark and support their curiosity and enthusiasm for all the STEM subjects. Believe it or not, among the most important aspects of your generosity is that you make it possible for them to enjoy NEW books: brand new, never opened books they are the first to enjoy. Just knowing that somebody believes they are worthy of having new nice things boosts their self-worth so much. For kids who often get the world's discards and hand-me-downs, even the smell of a new book is something to treasure.\r\n\r\nThere is a little corner of the classroom set aside for the library. Even the littles choose on their own to visit it, tapping my leg to ask, \"MsTaylorcanItakeabreakandgotothelibrary?\" I added some pictures of the library itself and I tried to get a couple of snapshots from during the school day, but it gets crazy around here and before I know it, class is over and I missed another opportunity to catch them reading. Of course, I also try to include a storytime occasionally with the Kindergarteners. Once a book is introduced, it is in high demand for independent reading too.\r\n\r\nPlease know that YOU made the difference in the everyday experience of children who otherwise are not exposed to books anywhere other than school. Your generosity is already reaping benefits. I just want you to know that.","fullyFundedDate":1749323257917,"projectUrl":"project/a-classroom-library-for-little-innovator/9387398/","projectTitle":"A Classroom Library for Little Innovators","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Taylor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8918383_orig.jpg?crop=324,324,x32,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1673320053368","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/bonnie-taylor"},{"teacherId":8918383,"projectId":8812955,"letterContent":"Because of your support, my first graders are now able to play and learn at the same time with their new alphabet and number rubber stamps. They press out their spelling words, high-frequency words, and those wonderfully \"tricky\" exceptions to the rules. Granted, some of their work looks a bit like a ransom note—but to them, it's a masterpiece, and they are so proud.\r\n\r\nWhen they first saw the giant ink pads, they could hardly wait for their turn. After stamping out their word lists, they quickly moved on to their own names, their friends' names, family members' names—and of course, several colorful versions of \"Ms. Taylor.\" A few brave students even stamped out full sentences!\r\n\r\nOne moment that stood out: a little girl who struggles to hold a pencil lit up when she realized she could build words with stamps. Her ideas could finally make it onto the page—clearly, confidently, and with ink she chose herself.
