The colorful books really engaged them with completing the journals each day. The clipboards allows students to work anywhere in the classroom. The crayons aids them in expressing their ideas visually. When visiting the Calm Down area students use the crayons to draw and color to express their feelings. The crayons are also used during math instruction to draw models. The party favors are a big hit with students. What used to feel like just another worksheet now feels fun, and they've been eager to dive in every single day since.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching a small group work together on a word sort. They were taking turns, checking each other's answers, and even cheering when they got the tricky ones right.
