The stools you provided have made quite the impact on our dual-identified multilingual learners, offering them a comfortable and engaging seating option that helps with focus and movement. It's amazing to see how these stools support our students in staying attentive and energized while they learn. Additionally, the timer you gifted has been a wonderful tool in managing movement breaks and classroom activities. It helps create structure and a sense of time for all students, especially for those who benefit from clear, visual cues.\r\n\r\nYour generosity truly enhances the learning environment for our students, allowing them to feel more comfortable and supported as they work. Thank you so much for your kindness and for thinking of our classroom needs. We are incredibly grateful for your donation, which will have a lasting effect on our students' education. We used the art supplies to: practice gratefulness (and later write a paragraph), describe ourselves (and write a personal paragraph), and physically manipulate the sentence structure and organization to explain our ideas. Using art supplies allows my students to brainstorm using manipulatives so that they can better articulate their ideas.\r\n\r\nWe use the social emotional materials, such as the Sticky Situations cards to spark conversation. These cards allow students to practice their reading comprehension, while pushing them to describe social interactions. These cards also allow students to experience common social situations in a safe setting, so that when they are faced with difficult interactions, they have skills to advocate for themselves and what is right.\r\n\r\nFinally, my newcomer students have been able to participate more actively in their general education classes by communicating with their teachers while using picture dictionaries. Newcomers have also been able to participate in both individual and whole class reading in English because of the donated graphic novels and bilingual texts.\r\n\r\nOverall, we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to access more materials and more grade-level content through your generous contributions.","fullyFundedDate":1731026835190,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-support-english-learners-as-they/8921465/","projectTitle":"Help Us Support English Learners as They Navigate Our World!","teacherDisplayName":"Mx. With your donation we were able to order much needed paints that students now use to explore their world, manage their stress and tell their story through art making. As soon as the materials arrived we drove right in, learning about perspective drawing and creating watercolor paintings of personally meaningful places. The quality of their work was beyond what I had hoped in large part because of the professional materials that I was able to provide them with the help of your substantial donation. \r\n\r\nOur school is currently facing extreme budget cuts. I was unsure how I would replenish our paint supplies. You are truly our heroes for providing these resources for us. Students were thrilled to receive their own, brand new, personal paint kit to use both in the classroom and at home. Next semester, students will be exercising more choice in the media they use for their art and I am happy to have these paints available as a popular option. \r\n\r\nThe arts are a critical tool in supporting mental health in students. Our art students do not just develop their craftsmanship and skill with media but use it as a tool for expression. In this process students reflect, grow, build confidence and connect with one another and the greater world. It is not just paint that you gave us but a pathway to self esteem, empathy and ultimately balance.","fullyFundedDate":1730941341925,"projectUrl":"project/paint-for-peace/8922927/","projectTitle":"Paint for Peace","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1545372_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1506110646107","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-stoos"},{"teacherId":1545372,"projectId":8764159,"letterContent":"I cannot thank you enough for the generous funding that you provided for my students. Every Tuesday and Thursday, we start class with independent reading. This is a time for students to pick a book that they're interested in and to read by themselves or in small groups. Students look forward to this, excitedly asking if we're doing independent reading on those days. \r\n\r\nStudents use this class time to decompress and to enter into an imaginary world. For many of them, this is the only time they take during the week to read for fun. After each independent reading session, students write down a short blurb about what they've just read and some then share this with the class. This is an opportunity for the class to hear what others are reading. Many times, these post-reading debriefs pique a student's interest and that student reads the book later in the year. As a teacher, it's exciting to see students reading together and talking about what they're reading. I appreciate that this is a student-centered time in which I can take a step back and allow the class to lead the discussion. \r\n\r\nYour support allowed me to grow my library, giving students more choice in what they are reading. Each of my 9th graders has found a book that is at the appropriate lexile level for them and is engaging. I'm excited to be able to continue independent reading next year with my next group of students. This is an important time for students to develop a love for reading and to learn more about themselves and the world we live in.","fullyFundedDate":1730645991572,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-students-mental-health-in-my/8916450/","projectTitle":"Supporting Students' Mental Health In My 9th Grade English Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bouton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9824373"},{"teacherId":9827116,"projectId":8921749,"letterContent":"The snacks you helped provide for my classroom have been a huge help this semester when it comes to both energizing and engaging students in whole-class activities, as well as providing more targeted, one-on-one support for kids in need. \r\n\r\nThe snacks provide a welcome boost to morale when we are competing as a class for review purposes. Whenever I introduce a game in class the first student question is invariably \"what do we win?\" When I am able to respond with \"good snacks!\" it immediately helps student buy-in to the activity, and encourages them to actively participate with their notes or their support of their teams. The overall energy of the classroom benefits from those opportunities, and having a supply of snacks from DonorsChoose allows me to focus on the creation of lessons and materials rather than when and how to get prizes. \r\n\r\nWith regards to individual student mental health, however, these snacks are in invaluable resource as well. When I see a student struggling to focus or pay attention, or if a student seems checked out or detached, I am able to check in with them and offer a snack on the spot. For students suffering from food insecurity, it can be difficult to ask outright, but having a ready supply of quality food in the room lets me provide those students with something to tide them over and re-engage them in learning. \r\n\r\nThank you so much!","fullyFundedDate":1730847541204,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-for-student-success/8921749/","projectTitle":"Snacks for Student Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Fulford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9827116"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_103549","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":272,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":81,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":21,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":71,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":47.8,"schoolId":103549,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Paul Cuffee Charter High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Paul Cuffee Charter High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/rhode-island/rhode-island-department-of-education/paul-cuffee-charter-high-school/103549"}
