These robots are a great way for students to practice coding with a real world application. This particular robot allows them to use more advanced-based coding concepts such as variables and functions. \r\nIt also allows them to view their block-code in Python and even challenge themselves to use basic Python coding with autofill. \r\nWith our growing population, having extra robots allows more students to code the robot for a greater amount of time. Smaller groups also help to prevent behavior conflicts and allow me to focus on building skills, not just classroom and supply management.","fullyFundedDate":1763592273702,"projectUrl":"project/real-world-robotics/9889129/","projectTitle":"Real-World Robotics","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Melander","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3347247"},{"teacherId":3347247,"projectId":9840286,"letterContent":"These two toys allowed my students to practice their computational thinking skills in a hands-on activity. In the past, we have done worksheets to practice sequencing and pattern making. While worksheets have their place, it was never the best way to practice these skills. We also used songs and dancing, which was great for those students that needed to move, but these toys provided a tangible way for students to practice.\r\nMy favorite part about using both the burgers and the stacking blocks was the conversations the students had. They were able to \"play restaurant\" and \"play town\", but they were actually practicing putting things in order and finding what comes next. It was music to a teacher's ears.","fullyFundedDate":1760892642509,"projectUrl":"project/computational-thinking-through-play/9840286/","projectTitle":"Computational Thinking Through Play","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Melander","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3347247"},{"teacherId":3347247,"projectId":9774986,"letterContent":"This project has made a huge impact on my students. We have used Bee Bots for coding in the past, but it that robot did not allow students to see their code in a visual way like tale bots do. These great new robots allow to see each command they code into the robot with a different color. This allows them to see if their code matches the cards they have laid out allowing them to debug and predict with code more easily.\r\nIt also had an unexpected impact. I knew the ability to record their voices would be an interesting twist on coding. What I did not expect was how much this simple addition got my students talking with one another. My students who speak a second language were able to make each animal sound, even when they did not want to record facts because of the language barrier. While my classroom is always loud and collaborative, the time we spent on Tale Bots showed me just how important it is to give all students a chance to have their voices heard, even if they are simply making a lion sound.","fullyFundedDate":1759418027687,"projectUrl":"project/kinesthetic-coding-and-narration/9774986/","projectTitle":"Kinesthetic coding and narration","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Melander","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3347247"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_95314","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":999,"numTeachers":49,"percentFrplEligible":57,"percentAsian":21,"percentBlack":32,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":23,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"20.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.4,"schoolId":95314,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Patrick Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Patrick Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/gwinnett-county-public-schools/patrick-elementary-school/95314"}
