Using interactive activities, students were able to simulate the struggles of establishing stability in the colonies. They worked together to build settlements, grow crops, and deal with harsh weather and unpredictable resources. This hands-on approach helped them realize just how difficult it was to survive and create a sustainable colony in the New World. As they engaged with this content, students asked thoughtful questions and reflected on the hardships of the early settlers, connecting those challenges to the broader narrative of American history.\r\n\r\n The United States map carpet also played a pivotal role in enhancing their understanding of the country's geography. It sparked curiosity and discussion as students eagerly explored the different states, their locations, and what they know about each one. They began asking questions such as, \"Why is there a crab next to Maine?\" and \"What's this state like?\" These conversations ignited a deeper interest in both history and geography, as students started to connect the past with the present and their understanding of the country as a whole.\r\n\r\n This classroom experience would not have been possible without your support, and it has fostered an environment where students are excited to ask questions and think critically about both history and geography. Your contribution has truly made an impact in their learning journey.","fullyFundedDate":1727462584592,"projectUrl":"project/time-travelers-exploring-the-past-to-un/8574335/","projectTitle":"Time Travelers: Exploring the Past to Understand the Present","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barrow","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9632423_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723042983376","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9632423"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43255","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":252,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":93,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":27,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":66,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"3 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":62.5,"schoolId":43255,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Parkview Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Parkview Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/lamar-school-district-re-2/parkview-elementary-school/43255"}
