Your generous donations have helped our students succeed in more ways than one. This project was to fund snacks for out learning lock in to prepare for state testing. State testing is not fun for anyone including the teachers. It can be a very stressful time of the year and many times teachers and students suffer from intense anxiety. I watched students engage in top notch teaching and learning as well as enjoying the snacks and treats that were provided through your generous donations. They learned, danced, ate, and celebrated their numerous achievements after testing. Testing scores increased 45% compared to last year in reading. The flu has been running rampant this year, but attendance has improved and I am elated. Each day we are able to spray our classrooms and wipe down the desks and high point touch areas. The district has advised us to do this when the kids are not present so I do it everyday after school or each morning before they arrive. I love a fresh smelling classroom and knowing that it is cleaned and sanitized makes my job easier because I don't have to worry about germs being spread so frequently. Brining something so simple yet so fulfilling to a group of 50+ children has warmed my heart this holiday season. The blankets were so soft. These were hands down the best quality blankets for children I could have ever dreamed of. \r\nThe students were given their gifts on a Thursday at our holiday party. The next morning they came ranting and raving about how they slept with the blankets the night before. They described them as soft, warm, and many stated they will never sleep with anything else. \r\nMany students \"wore\" their blankets to school the next day. Standing at the bus stops, riding public transportation, and not wanting anyone at home to take their blanket has made students extremely territorial of their hats, blankets, and \r\ngloves. \r\n\r\nThey received their gifts in \"Rudolph\" bags made with the crafts sent in this project. This was a joyous and warm occasion for so many children. This has been one of my favorite projects yet. My students now have centers with colored pictures which makes it easier for them to recognized the items on their papers.\r\n \r\nThey are more excited about doing various projects because they know it's going to be in color versus black and white. They are more engaged in their activities. \r\n\r\nThe easel has become a center itself, students use the easel to spell out words or show their thinking on a math problem. Also, it's holds my anchor charts which makes it easier to just flip to them without going through my closet looking for them. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity and kindness!
