Because of your donation, we were able to purchase hands-on STEM supplies that sparked curiosity, encouraged problem-solving, and brought learning to life for my students.\r\nWith these new materials—like building kits, magnets, circuits, measuring tools, and other interactive resources—students had the opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering, and math in ways that were both meaningful and exciting. They didn't just learn about STEM concepts—they experienced them.\r\nWhether designing their own bridges, experimenting with force and motion, or building simple machines, my students were deeply engaged in thinking critically and working collaboratively. These activities helped strengthen not only academic skills, but also perseverance, creativity, and teamwork.\r\nOne of the most powerful outcomes I witnessed was the boost in confidence. Students who might normally hesitate in more traditional settings became leaders and problem-solvers when given the chance to build, test, and explore with their hands.\r\nYour generosity helped create those moments.\r\nThank you for believing in the potential of every child and for making STEM learning accessible, engaging, and fun. Your support funded much-needed crafting materials and art supplies that made a significant impact on our learning environment—especially during the culminating projects for our reading curriculum.\r\nAt the end of each reading unit, my students are given the opportunity to showcase their understanding and creativity through hands-on projects. Thanks to you, they had access to quality materials—construction paper, markers, glue, paint, scissors, and more—that helped bring their ideas to life.\r\nFrom dioramas and character masks to storyboards and posters, your donation allowed my students to express their learning in meaningful and personal ways. For many of them, this was their favorite part of the unit—where books and stories turned into something tangible, something they could proudly display and share with their peers and families.\r\nBeyond supporting academic growth, these projects built confidence, collaboration, and joy. It's incredible to see how much ownership and enthusiasm students show when they have the right tools to succeed. An important standard in 2nd grade is to be fluent at addition and subtraction facts through 20. We practice this the whole school year. This promotes active involvement, independence, social interaction, and math development.\r\n\r\nThe different flash cards make the experience differentiated. As students finish work, they are able to use the cards so I can continue working with students.\r\n\r\nIn addition, it is always helpful to have items to help fight germs and keep the work clean. \r\n\r\nStudents love to have the play dough during downtime, indoor recess, or as an incentive for positive behaviors.","fullyFundedDate":1733512238563,"projectUrl":"project/math-facts-cleaning-play-and-more/8975641/","projectTitle":"Math Facts, Cleaning, Play, and More!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Andrews","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4256553_orig.jpg?crop=370,370,x0,y186&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683682471323","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/s-andrews"},{"teacherId":4256553,"projectId":8904411,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations. I am continually amazed by the generosity of my family, friends, and other anonymous donors. I work hard in my classroom to help all students succeed. To do this, I need differentiated materials. The curriculum helps provide a baseline for students and teaches grade level content. However, 50 % of the students are either below or above this baseline. They need opportunities to be challenged or additional supports to meet their needs. The materials from this project helps me be able to work with students in small groups while giving other students something to do when they are finished with their schoolwork. This is my first year having a therapy dog in the classroom. It has been amazing. Her name is Remy. She brings so much joy, companionship, and insight in to the classroom. We have discussions about emotions and kindness around her . She helps students with motivation and handling \"big\" feelings. She just makes everyone smile! The tent is a great place for students to read to her or work quietly. Each week we have a student of the week who gets to sit in the bean bag and work next to Remy. The clipboards and folding desk make this easier. The plastic sleeves are wonderful because we do not have to make as many copies and resources can be used more than once. Remy wears a bandana to school each day. One that says she is a therapy dog and can be petted is perfect! I am continually amazed by everyone's generosity.
