During the last week of school, my students were able to make wonderful bracelets as a memento of their kindergarten year. The bracelets not only challenged their fine motor skills, but I asked them to count to beads and put the letters of their name in order. On the final day of school, several students made fuse bead creations, which required a lot of concentration and precision. \r\n\r\nAlready this year my students have enjoyed the challenge and creativity of the wooden balancing rocks. There is a limit of 3 students at a time, and the chairs are always in demand. The current record is 10 rocks high, but I have also seen a castle and a forest. \r\n\r\nFinally, my students this year will soon be able to make the same amazing artwork as my students last year. The watercolors included in this project will be used all year, culminating in a beautiful butterfly at the conclusion of our spring unit.","fullyFundedDate":1746734247120,"projectUrl":"project/fine-motor-extravaganza-beading-and-ba/9196733/","projectTitle":"Fine Motor Extravaganza - Beading and Balancing","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Capen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2383947_orig.jpg?crop=1024,1024,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1565646573127","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2383947"},{"teacherId":3075478,"projectId":9197278,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to my classroom! This year, my students really enjoyed learning with hands on materials. \r\n\r\nWhen we starting receiving the boxes full of the materials, my students were in complete shock! The amount of \"oooh's and awwws\" that I heard was deafening! As we opened the boxes, I had the students help set up our new materials and they were able to explore and engage with each other throughout the process. Together, with little help from me, they were able to decide how to store each toy after they used it, and they also had fun explaining to each other how to take care of our new materials. \r\n\r\nThese materials will be kept in our classroom for years to come and my students were so thankful to receive the gifts!","fullyFundedDate":1743431390024,"projectUrl":"project/25-kids-a-million-little-toys-what-coul/9197278/","projectTitle":"25 Kids, A Million Little Toys-What Could Go Wrong?","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Davie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3075478_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690567671357","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3075478"},{"teacherId":6219051,"projectId":9052546,"letterContent":"Thank you for your very kind donations. My students were very excited when they heard that they were getting a new and beautiful book bag this year for homework. Every week they get to take their new book bag home filled with books from our classroom library.\r\n\r\nThis homework routine is definitely helping their reading in many different ways. Their fluency is improving, the stamina that they have for reading has increased and they have been able to meet many new characters. On Fridays, I always give them time to talk with a friend about their favorite book of the week and they then get to recommend it to a friend. They look forward to this every week.\r\n\r\nThey will continue using their book bags until the end of the school year. Exposing them to as many topics, authors and genres is my goal. Once again, your donation has made a difference. I had no idea what I was going to be in store for. I quickly realized how difficult catering to each individual grade level was. Although I am able to work with both grades for most of the core academic areas, there are some standards that are too specific for each grade level that need to be covered. That means one grade level needs to be working independently while I work with the other students. \r\n\r\nLuckily our school has access to online resources and devices for each student. All we were missing were headphones so that students could listen to their assignments and focus on their work. \r\n\r\nSince we've received headphones, students have increased their number of Lexia reading units as well as their math lessons on Dreambox. Our class is now one of the top five classes in the school averaging three completed Dreambox math lessons per week. We hope to continue growing this number moving into the final trimester. \r\n\r\nOur whiteboards have been used almost everyday. Fourth graders can easily show me their work and I can check for understanding throughout the lesson. We just finished long division and some students became student teachers to help those still struggling. They partnered up on groups of two or three and did practice problems on their whiteboards. The student teachers supported their partners with guidance and questioning. This is all happening while fifth graders are working independently with their computers and headphones. \r\n\r\nThis project has been extremely beneficial for each student in our classroom. It's the gift that keeps on giving. Our class sends our appreciation to all of our donors who helped provide us with headphones, whiteboards and markers. Thanks for supporting our success.","fullyFundedDate":1733253739015,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-and-whiteboards/8939763/","projectTitle":"Headphones and Whiteboards","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Alexander-Day","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2501068_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1538161611972","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/alexander33"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_3838","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":514,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":87,"percentAsian":16,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":67,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"22.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.1,"schoolId":3838,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Park Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Park Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/hayward-unified-school-district/park-elementary-school/3838"}
