I couldn't even imagine the impact having a class pet could have on my class. My students shrieked with glee when they found out their dream to have a class pet was coming true. They are so grateful for the donations and generosity shown. \r\n\r\nHaving Sunny, our class pet PacMan frog has helped my students be responsible. They help each other when it is time to feed, clean, or mist Sunny. Having Sunny in our room has also helped them show respect for other's needs. They often remind each other of their volume so as not to hurt Sunny's ears. \r\n\r\nHaving Sunny provides a calming effect for my students. Some students have difficulty regulating themselves. They become frustrated or angry during school when they don't get their way or when things are difficult. Many students have asked for time to watch Sunny as a way to calm down and regulate their emotions. Students calm down much faster after watching Sunny for a few minutes. I never imagined this positive impact would come from having a pet in the classroom.
