Thanks to your generosity, I have been able to prepare so many materials to help my students succeed! And best of all, because of the laminating sheets you donated, I can protect those materials and keep them in great shape for future students as well.\r\n\r\nMy color printer is now my best friend-- pictures are more vivid and realistic, color coded questions help students organize their thinking, and completed work is more polished and engaging. \r\n\r\nThe mouth model (who still needs a name... any suggestions?) has already been used for articulation practice assistance and even to practice brushing teeth!\r\n\r\nThese visual supports have already made an impact, and it is only October... My speech and language students are getting ready to transition into the workforce and have been able to build their financial literacy skills and vocational communication skills thanks to the products that you gave!\r\n\r\nIn one class, we run a Waffle Shop, where students have been getting acquainted with different jobs in the restaurant world. From manager to prep cook, server to food runner, students have really taken the reins as they prepare waffles for their peers and teachers. We use the waffle maker, cart, and plates for this project.\r\n\r\nAnother class is using the materials to create a juice bar called \"Juice House.\" They made nametags, take orders from another classroom, prepare the juice, and deliver the orders on the push cart. We use the ice maker, cart, cash box, cups, and mini fridge for this project.\r\n\r\nThe students are feeling empowered, important, and competent, which are all essential as they get ready for their own jobs in the near future. I use the iPad daily to make communication accessible for students in multiple languages. We use Cough Drop, an alternative and augmentative communication program, to empower nonspeaking students to participate in their whole-class and individual activities. We use bilingual phonics apps to promote literacy in two languages. We use Boom Cards to make pictures interactive. And so much more!\r\n\r\nThe Teachers Pay Teachers gift card has allowed me to engage students in communication tasks with each other that would have taken ages to create myself.
