Our kindergarten year is off to a great start! The students are really learning the routines and making huge gains academically and socially. The letter tracing pads that we received for our kindergarten classroom have been a HIT! The students LOVE using the attached pen to practice proper letter formation, sight words, and spelling short words. After writing the letter or word they use their hand to \"smooth\" out the gel to erase and work on the next letter. The \"smoothing\" part is what makes using these pads fun. The gel is soft and squishy and the students can't wait to erase. As a teacher I like that the gel doesn't allow the handwriting to look \"perfect\". When the letters don't turn out as perfect as we want, we just blame it on the gel and try again. This has eliminated the tears and the frustration of learning to write the school way. It has allowed me to emphasize the process of forming the letters and not the outcome. I also like that they fit neatly in my basket so they are easy to clean up and store. It's a fast paced environment in kindergarten so being organized is important for smooth transitions and my sanity.\r\n\r\nThe white paper lunch bags have not been used yet this school year. Next week is our Fall Party, so the students will each get a bag to decorate. These bags will then be used to collect candy on our party day. We will do the same thing for our Friendship Party in February. We will decorate our bags and then on our party day they will be used to collect friendship cards and treats.\r\nThank you for supporting my kindergarten students! My students squealed with excitement when they saw the new pirate castle and ship! These items have brought our classroom so much joy! Each morning the students enter the classroom and take care of their belongings. They then have a short work task to complete. Once their work task is complete they are able to go play quietly with their peers. This morning routine allows me to pull individual or small groups of students to work with on academic tasks. Having these engaging toys has been a game changer for my kindergarten students!\r\n\r\nTwo students are allowed to play with the pirate set at a time. It was so popular that we decided as a class that we needed to make a list of names so we knew whose turn it was to play. This solved a lot of problems and we decided it would be fair for each student to get a turn. It was great to see how the students handled solving this problem and the different ideas they came up with. We play fair in KBE! The students do a fantastic job playing together and creating play. I love listening to their conversations.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting my kindergarten students!
