They are tired of screens, and don't get the same inspiration from scrolling online as they get from unplugging and reading an actual book. While we don't have specific art textbooks for students, they love to access the wide variety of ceramics and sculptures books I have available in my classroom. They often have a hard time thinking of their next project - these books give them plenty of eye candy. They may not know about artists that are currently creating artwork. They may never have seen contemporary art pieces, or artists that are not white males. These books make a difference, and let students relate to the books, their content, and their classmates in a concrete manner.
