We've been reading them everyday and having fantastic discussions about the characters in the book. We are analyzing the characters based on their words and actions. My students have come up with a great list of character traits to describe one of the main characters.\r\n\r\nWe have also been discussing topics like kindness, compassion, and empathy. It's so wonderful to witness my 10 and 11 year old students evaluating the behavior of one of the characters, and feeling appalled at his lack of empathy.\r\n\r\nMy students love the opportunity to take turns reading the story aloud--even my less proficient readers will volunteer to read! It was so much fun to arrive back from summer vacation to many boxes of goodies. \r\n\r\nThe students were so excited to see the chairs and cushions and couldn't wait to use them. They did have to wait a little bit until they knew how to use our classroom library. Now that they know the routines, they love using the cushions and chairs! Last Friday, we had bring a stuffy to class day. It was so adorable to see all the students in their comfy seating options with their books and stuffed animal. Giving them a choice of where to sit helped many of my students stay more engaged while working.\r\n\r\nEveryone has also loved the clipboards as they allow students to work at the carpet as needed. They will also be helpful when I introduce the \"write the room\" writing center which has been a class favorite in the past.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and support of my classroom. These books have made an incredible difference in the way my students are able to research and learn. Having access to engaging, kid-friendly resources has given them the chance to explore their chosen states with curiosity and independence. Instead of only relying on online resources, students are now able to flip through colorful, detailed books that spark their interest and support their learning.\r\n\r\nThe impact has been amazing to see. Students are practicing real research skills—taking notes, finding important details, and using text features to guide their learning. Even more exciting, they are sharing cool and surprising facts with one another, which has led to wonderful collaboration and peer learning. These books have turned our classroom into a lively community of explorers, where students are excited to teach and learn from each other.\r\n\r\nYour support has truly brought this project to life.
