Painting on canvases in Frida's style allowed students to express their creativity. \r\n\r\nWe transformed our classroom, complete with papel picado and themed decorations. My students were so excited when we received all of the materials. However, I think they were most excited when they saw the superhero masks and capes that we wore when we completed our Super E (silent e) culminating activity. They were striking superhero poses and having a fun time while learning an important phonics skill. \r\n\r\nYour thoughtful donation of read aloud books gave me the opportunity to introduce the concept of silent e by engaging in an interactive read aloud. We used the words in the books to show how words change from a consonant vowel consonant word with a short vowel sound to a long vowel sound with the addition of silent e. Using The Mighty Silent E book, I was able to reinforce how words such as \"kit\" would become kite with the addition of silent e. We used the superhero star wand to magically change words to long vowel words using crayon resist and watercolors. The Science of Reading materials were used with my students who were in need of reading interventions. The materials allowed the students to map out sounds and the reproducible passages allowed my students to better their reading fluency. The materials made the lessons come alive for my budding readers. I will be able to use the materials to enhance the learning experience for my students for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1730460944497,"projectUrl":"project/decode-with-the-help-of-super-e/8479152/","projectTitle":"Decode With the Help of \"Super E\"","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rodriguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9581710_orig.jpg?crop=1636,1636,x214,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1719953359916","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9581710"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_72102","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":603,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":59,"percentAsian":10,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":36,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"20.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":58.3,"schoolId":72102,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Orange Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Orange Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/corona-norco-unified-school-district/orange-elementary-school/72102"}
