There is always a read aloud where students participate by reading outloud with peers and also acting out parts of the book. Students then discuss new vocabulary introduced in the books. The students were very happy to open and take out the orange construction paper. We had run out of orange construction paper and local school supplies stores do not carry it for some reason. Students were also happy to see metallic paper for us in creating dioramas and mixed media cardboard and other recycled items art projects.\r\n\r\nThe students planned together and decided on paper weaving with the bright new orange paper. Students read the book in small groups and filled out story maps with key elements.
