It may seem like simple materials, but they have completely changed the feel of our drawing unit. We are currently focusing on value and realism through observational studies of light and shadow. During our first oil pastel still life, there was a noticeable shift in the room. As students blended colors and built layers on the new paper, they slowed down, stepped back to observe, and realized their drawings suddenly looked more vibrant and lifelike. The quality of the materials allowed them to experiment with layering and blending in ways they simply could not before.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the reaction was immediate excitement. Students were genuinely amazed that people they've never met cared enough to support their creativity. Several of them said things like, \"Wait... someone bought this for us?\" It turned into a conversation about generosity, community, and how art connects people beyond our classroom walls.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our next steps include pushing our skills further. Students are now refining their techniques, focusing on craftsmanship, and developing more complex concepts in their work. We're moving from simply completing projects to truly thinking like artists that are planning, revising, and reflecting. These resources allow us to spend more time on creativity instead of limitations.","fullyFundedDate":1762204361401,"projectUrl":"project/color-our-world-bringing-art-to-life/9868080/","projectTitle":"Color Our World: Bringing Art to Life","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Oler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10337639"},{"teacherId":10343113,"projectId":9878494,"letterContent":"We are incredibly grateful for your generous donation of items to support physical therapy services in our school. The students were excited to do a hands-on activity with the AngLegs and they were able to grasp concepts that have stayed with them for future lessons where they needed this background knowledge. Having this resource has made a big impact on my students' understanding by being able to visualize triangle leg lengths.\r\n\r\nI was also able to purchase dry erase markers and bright colored paper for my classroom. My students enjoy working problems at the white boards and are thrilled when they get to use a brand new marker that writes so nicely! The students love their flip books that are so colorful and useful for them as they complete challenging problems!\r\n\r\nThe items I was able to purchase for my classroom through your generosity have been a game-changer for my students. We received handheld dry-erase boards, cushions, and a light for our classroom. Our project is in full swing beginning this week, but we did do a practice round. Students are using the cushions around the room for comfort while reading their novels. The hand-held dry-erase boards were used to answer questions about stories using this method. It was great to hear from all the kids rather than just the volunteers. Finally, the light allows us to have the room dimmer for ambience rather than the stark bright lights.\r\n\r\nThe students were elated when they first saw the huge crate of goodies for our classroom. They anxiously grabbed cushions and helped thread the dry-erase boards. Everyone took a cushion to get comfortable on the floor. All students appreciated your gifts! It was a rewarding experience. \r\n\r\nWe begin our official reading this week. Students selected choice novels and will respond with the boards at times. The cushions will make everyone feel more at home rather than sitting on a hard chair. Your donations allow for less fortunate students to have an equal opportunity in education. The graphic novels allow for struggling students to develope a love for reading and provide a healthy break for others. There are never enough graphic novels and it's always a good feeling to have them asking for more. \r\n\r\nThe markers and Pens were first opened as Chrismas presents to the class and used for a service project to make Christmas cards for residents in the nursing home. Students then used them in their end of semester class project depicting a character from the book they just read. Students will continue to use these items for homework, notes, flashcards and everyday projects. Color allows for fun learning and easier recall of information. \r\n\r\nWith the use of technology students are using the headphones daily.
