We have already started using our materials. We are using the letter magnet blocks daily to build words phonetically with students who are already showing interest in reading. They are also using them to build their names if they are not quite ready to build words yet. \r\nWe are also using the magnetic letters to build words in small groups. Students are having to really think about sounds to apply them in building words. It is a great challenge for some of our students. \r\nThe students were very excited when all of the materials arrived and cheered as we unboxed each item. They got especially excited about new books entering the reading center! \r\nAs we progress throughout the year we look forward to using all of the more challenging materials to help our students succeed and increase literacy awareness.","fullyFundedDate":1778244114101,"projectUrl":"project/lets-get-to-reading/10002904/","projectTitle":"Let's Get to Reading!!!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. L.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp519100_orig.jpg?crop=339,339,x121,y150&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1681756107242","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/519100"},{"teacherId":519100,"projectId":10304993,"letterContent":"We have already been actively using all of our new farm materials in our PreK classroom. The students were absolutely thrilled to see all of our knew farm materials in the classroom! \r\n\r\nFirst of all, many students have enjoyed the farm animal puppets in the reading center. They have been using the puppets to read the new farm books and act out several of the animals they read about in the books. They are expressing language skills as well as they are using puppets for play.\r\n\r\nMany of the students have enjoyed the tractors and farm animals as they actively pretend play working on a farm. We have read books about the farm and they are then turning around in independent play and using that knowledge to pretend play with the farm toys. \r\n\r\nBy far, \"Henny\" the classroom stuffed pet chicken has been the biggest hit. All of the children have enjoyed meeting Henny and playing with her in the home living center. We hope you use Henny and her chicks to teach our students more about the lifecycle of a chicken. \r\nMoving forward, we hope to have some local farmers come in and speak to our children about farming and possibly bring live farm animals with them to enhance their learning. \r\nThank you again for inspiring our students and sparking an amazing interest in farming.
