For example, one student quietly shared that she no longer has to worry about missing class when she needs feminine products, because she knows they're available. Others have told me how much it means to grab a snack when they're hungry and struggling to concentrate.\r\n\r\nAs we wrapped up the school year, these resources helped students stay present and engaged in class instead of being distracted by unmet needs. \r\n\r\nThank you for investing in both the academic success and emotional well-being of our students. These engaging, relevant books have allowed my students to connect personally with the texts, sparking thoughtful discussion and deeper literary analysis. We've worked on crafting analytical essays, comparing characters across texts, and even creating creative visual projects that showcase comprehension and interpretation.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is active and collaborative. Students can often be found in small groups, sticky notes in hand, annotating key moments, debating character choices, and flipping excitedly through pages during independent reading time. There's a buzz in the air when a new book \"hook\" captures a reluctant reader—and thanks to you, we've had many of those moments.\r\n\r\nOne student who typically struggles to finish a book couldn't stop talking about Refugee by Alan Gratz—he said it was the first time he felt like he \"couldn't put it down.\" Another group was completely captivated by The Crossover and even started writing their own poems in verse after we finished. These are the kinds of transformations that happen when students are given access to books that reflect their interests and challenge their thinking.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just give us books—it gave us connection, engagement, and growth. We've used it to explore key skills like identifying central ideas and supporting details, analyzing text structures like timelines and captions, and determining an author's purpose. The vivid photographs and engaging format have helped students connect deeply with the real events surrounding the Titanic, while also building their confidence in reading nonfiction.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading doesn't just mean turning pages—it means investigating, discussing, highlighting, and questioning. Our desks are often covered in sticky notes and text evidence, and students are eager to dive into each section. They're even starting to bring in their own Titanic \"fun facts\" from home!\r\n\r\nSome of the most reluctant readers are now the first to raise their hands to share a passage or ask a thoughtful question.
