A recent highlight was watching students plan and \"budget\" their points during a project reflection session. After completing a collaborative research activity, students tracked their earned points, discussed whether to spend or save, and set personal goals for a larger reward later in the month. It was powerful to see them applying math, self-regulation, and critical thinking skills in a meaningful, real-life context.\r\n Their excitement was immediate and genuine. Students gathered around the store display, pointing out items they hoped to save for and making plans with classmates about their goals. Many students were especially proud knowing that these materials came from donors who believed in them and their learning. It created a strong sense of community and appreciation in our classroom.\r\n Students are currently working on a goal-setting and reflection project where they track their academic progress and behavior over several weeks. They will analyze how their choices impact their point totals and create personal action plans to reach long-term rewards. This process helps reinforce responsibility, perseverance, and thoughtful decision-making—skills that extend far beyond our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1768171137838,"projectUrl":"project/building-responsibility-and-positive-beh/9992331/","projectTitle":"Building Responsibility and Positive Behavior Through a Classroom Economy","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Giger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3172247_orig.jpg?crop=441,441,x0,y164&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721939658373","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3172247"},{"teacherId":3172247,"projectId":9461228,"letterContent":"My students absolutely love having their \"Cozy Corner\" area to be able to spread out and work on projects. It makes them feel so special to have their own little safe space.\r\n I have a framed board that students write their favorite quotes or sayings on using the special colorful chalk markers that were donated. The pens and notepads you provided have already made a powerful impact in our classrooms. Our students use their new materials to write anonymous reflections, encouragements, and real-life scenarios centered on kindness, empathy, and standing up for others. Having high-quality materials has helped them take the work seriously and with pride—there's something powerful about putting meaningful words on a notepad that feels important.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their faces lit up. One student picked up a pen and said, \"Wait—these are for us?\" It was a small moment, but it spoke volumes. Having tools that feel special has made our writing time more focused and heartfelt. As we continue this school year, students will be creating an office display titled Words that Matter, where they'll showcase select writing pieces to encourage a culture of respect throughout our school. Your gift helped spark that initiative, and we're so grateful. Thank you for believing in our students and for giving them the tools to express themselves with dignity and confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1735672924726,"projectUrl":"project/high-quality-anti-bullying-writing-mater/8918611/","projectTitle":"High Quality Anti-bullying Writing Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Strum","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9825607"},{"teacherId":8978319,"projectId":8583186,"letterContent":"I want to take a moment to thank you for donating to my clean air project for my students. Since the day the air purifiers have arrived, my students and I have noticed a substantial difference in the quality of air that is in our room. The students and I received air purifieres and read the instuctions; as well as, researched information about how air purifiers aid in a cleaner environment. We decided on a location and set the purfiers up. The student were so excited as they decided where each one would be located to create the greatest impact. They also debated who would sit by them which I found amusing but very happy. Each morning two different students are assigned to turn the purfiers on and make sure they are on the correct setting. They have taken full ownership of the purfiers. Not only have I noticed a difference in the air quality of our room, but the students have noticed as well. The air feels cleaner, it smells cleaner, and the room is less dusty. We could not be happier about our purifiers and the impact they have made.
