With the proper gear, our students were able to enjoy cooking, hiking, and a variety of outdoor camping activities while putting their California Cadet Corps skills into practice. Your generosity made a tremendous difference because some of our cadets had never been camping before. Having access to the right equipment allowed them to participate, explore new experiences, and feel included in an opportunity that might otherwise have been out of reach. These resources helped remove barriers and ensured our cadets could learn, participate, and grow together.\r\n\r\nOur cadets were excited to use the new equipment and put their classroom learning into action in the outdoors. Throughout the bivouac, they practiced teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and leadership while taking part in real-world activities. They learned that leadership is not just about giving directions; it is about being dependable, helping others, and working together to overcome challenges. For the cadets experiencing camping for the first time, this was an especially rewarding and enjoyable opportunity. Watching them step outside their comfort zones, try new things, and build confidence reminded me how important hands-on learning is to their development. These experiences created lasting memories while helping our students discover strengths they may not have known they possessed.\r\n\r\nThe dedication and teamwork our cadets demonstrated during their training reflect the positive impact of these opportunities. I am proud to share that the 303rd Battalion earned the 11th Brigade Honor Unit ribbon in recognition of its outstanding work. This accomplishment represents the commitment, discipline, and pride our cadets bring to the California Cadet Corps. We will continue building on this success through future bivouacs, outdoor training, and leadership activities that allow our students to apply their skills in meaningful ways. When they exited, their leis were waiting for them along with a group of 7th-grade AVID students cheering them on!\r\n\r\nThe 7th graders who created the leis are already excited for their leis to be created this upcoming school year. Students now have a very specific and clear place to turn in their work. Students appreciate seeing how I file all of the work that they have produced. They know where to find assignments that have already been graded and entered into the gradebook. For my students in the Spanish Language Arts classes, the speaker has given them something to look forward to. Prior to this, it was difficult to use our screens to project a document and play music at the same time. Now, it is easy for me to connect the speaker to my phone so I can play their favorite Spanish songs. The writing process is no longer boring. Students LOVE to work on their vocabulary and their writing samples while there is music. It really makes a huge difference in the classroom environment. \r\nAnother HUGE difference that I have noted since receiving the items that you so kindly helped donate, is that students are no longer embarrassed about asking for wipes when they are sick or after they notice that P.E. really made them work hard.
