Our principal, Mrs. Rouse, personally carried the rug down to our room because she's AMAZING. The students were shocked and excited that we were getting a new rug to sit on! They wanted to watch as I opened up the packaging, unrolled the rug, and made a big deal out of the grand reveal! \r\n\r\nThank you again for choosing to fund this rug project, many people may not see the value in a good rug for students, but it has truly helped us in our daily learning! The new soccer balls, basketballs, and jump ropes are used daily by my students, and I've already seen them come together to create their own games and practice new skills. Just last week, a group of students organized a soccer match that included kids who usually shy away from joining in — and seeing them included and cheered on by their classmates was a wonderful reminder of the power of play.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new equipment, their faces absolutely lit up. Many of them rushed over to grab a ball or a jump rope, eager to test it out right away. For some, it was the first time they had access to equipment that was brand-new and just for them. Their excitement was contagious, and it's clear that these resources have already become a treasured part of our school day.\r\n\r\nAs we continue to build teamwork and sportsmanship on the playground, my students are learning important skills that carry back into the classroom — patience, problem-solving, and collaboration. The next step for us is to channel this same energy into our upcoming science unit on forces and motion, where we'll even use some of the equipment to experiment and connect real-life play to science concepts. Thank you for helping make learning, both inside and outside the classroom, so meaningful and fun.","fullyFundedDate":1755712317248,"projectUrl":"project/jump-shoot-play/9548123/","projectTitle":"Jump, Shoot, Play!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8685448_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1673986557496","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8685448"},{"teacherId":8685448,"projectId":7780225,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the baskets to hold our supplies! I have my dream library, and it is because of you. My students have been ALL up in the books this year. In fact, they have spent so much time reading that I am having to replace a bunch of books that have been loved to literal pieces. They were able to help me categorize our library. We started small, and every day added a few books. We talked about fiction vs. nonfiction, genres, authors, and even had a few books that stumped us because they could go in multiple places. Each book was eventually put in the perfect place, and no matter who my librarian was that week, every student took care to place books in the right basket. They were confident and articulate when choosing books and I LOVED hearing their discussions about why books went in a certain place, what they observed, what they liked and recommended, and also what they thought we needed to add to the library. The visual labels turned out beautifully and I have to say my little library was quite a hit with the other teachers as well!","fullyFundedDate":1692139788721,"projectUrl":"project/you-belong-with-me/7451888/","projectTitle":"You Belong With Me","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. M.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1984294_orig.png?crop=845,845,x106,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751862170684","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/bmorrisona106"},{"teacherId":1984294,"projectId":7453285,"letterContent":"These organizing materials have been a lifesaver! Every day, when students came in, they put their folders straight into the hanging organizer for me to check later. Then they checked pencil pouches and made sure they had what they needed for the day, including a pencil in the holder on their desk. One of the carts I used as student supply drawers. Anything they needed, they could find in those drawers, so they never had to ask for pencils, erasers, scissors, glue, etc. when theirs was lost or used up. This morning routine took less than 5 minutes and became second nature for them. It saved so much time, plus it helped them be independent and take ownership of their materials. \r\n\r\nI used a cart for weekly and small group supplies to keep everything right where I needed it. I used another cart for student work; anything they wanted to keep for portfolios and anything I needed for grading just went right in the drawer, and the kids could do it themselves which saved me so much time sorting paper. We ended up using our book bins for the bulky laptops that were all over the floor charging; they fit perfectly and kept the cords from tripping us. I hung the shoe organizer right by the laptops so we could easily reach the headphones, and those fit perfectly as well. I had a ton of other teachers in the building say they wanted to copy my system because it was so easy!","fullyFundedDate":1692139788831,"projectUrl":"project/youre-losing-me/7453285/","projectTitle":"You're Losing Me","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. M.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1984294_orig.png?crop=845,845,x106,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751862170684","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/bmorrisona106"},{"teacherId":1984294,"projectId":7453253,"letterContent":"My students and I have loved our new rug and light covers! I have had migraines all my life, and the overhead lights are triggering. However, the light from my lamps is not always enough to teach by. These covers really helped with the harsh glare. They came at the perfect time, too; I ended up with two students who have seizures this year, and I was concerned about how the lights would affect them. One also has migraines like me. I like to think that they helped because she had fewer days out due to headaches and fewer seizures than last year. \r\n\r\nThese additions, while seeming small, have made a big impact and will stay with me and future students for many years to come!","fullyFundedDate":1698672439858,"projectUrl":"project/you-need-to-calm-down/7453253/","projectTitle":"You Need to Calm Down!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. M.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1984294_orig.png?crop=845,845,x106,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751862170684","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/bmorrisona106"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_6925","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":462,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":47,"percentWhite":31,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":53.5,"schoolId":6925,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Northside School for the Arts on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Northside School for the Arts","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/rock-hill-schools-york-county-district/northside-elementary-school/6925"}
