Your contribution made it possible for us to bring these tools into our learning environment and observe firsthand how movement and posture can influence focus and engagement.\r\n\r\nSo far, the project has been an exciting experience. We've been able to track how different seating options affect students' ability to stay on task, and the initial results are promising. Some students have found that having the ability to stand or engage their core while sitting helps them concentrate better during lessons. This project would not have been possible without your support, and I truly appreciate your willingness to invest in our learning. Thanks to your contribution, I purchased essential supplies like gloves, sandpaper, and brushes, which have been instrumental in helping the students develop their welding skills. These materials have allowed students to practice safely and effectively, and they have made significant progress in refining their technique.\r\n\r\nYour support has given students the tools they need for this project. AVID tutorials are a way for students to receive peer help on problems they are struggling with. A student will work through a problem (quadratics for instance), and when they get to a point of confusion, their peers then help explain how to solve the problem. This allows for the student to learn how to solve the problem, but it also allows others to receive help, reinforcement for those helping, new ideas or methods to solve problems, relationship building, and so much more.\r\n The students wouldn't admit that they enjoy tutorials, but once they get going, you get to watch them debate how to solve things, you get to see their competitiveness as they race to solve things first, and they definitely wouldn't tell you that they laugh and joke with each other as they do \"homework\" together. The whiteboards have been a great addition to our AVID class, and we truly thank you for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1727462997091,"projectUrl":"project/avid-tutorial-time/8576926/","projectTitle":"AVID Tutorial Time","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Ellis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9633182"},{"teacherId":9634259,"projectId":8582060,"letterContent":"I wanted to thank you again for your generous donation of materials for my classroom. Thanks to your support, my students had the incredible opportunity to engage in a hands-on STEM project building and testing balsa wood bridges. This project captivated their interest and provided valuable learning experiences that will stay with them for years to come.\r\n\r\nThrough this activity, my students developed skills in project management, wood crafting, and architectural design—cornerstones of any successful STEM curriculum. It was inspiring to watch them work collaboratively to design, build, and test their creations. The project challenged them to think critically, solve problems, and reflect on the structural principles they learned in class. Beyond the technical skills, the joy and pride they took in their work was a testament to how much they appreciated the chance to explore and apply their learning tangibly.\r\n\r\nYour kindness and investment in their education made all of this possible. They gathered around me as I unboxed the packages, and they eagerly began to play with the toys. (It's hilarious because they're juniors in high school). After the excitement wore off, I began to notice certain students would ask for a fidget every day. 100% of these \"regulars\" quietly fidgeted with the toys and were absolutely on task. There's a ton of research on the subject, but for my students with ADHD and autism especially, fidgets make all of the difference.
