We have cleared the space and begun preparing students by introducing them to plants, gardening tools, and the outdoor environment. This early stage has provided valuable opportunities for hands-on learning, responsibility, and collaboration. For many of our students, simply becoming comfortable with the tools and space has been a meaningful step toward building confidence and independence.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the garden project has encouraged teamwork and a sense of ownership among students. By participating in the preparation phase, they are developing the patience and care needed for the next stages of planting and nurturing crops. Even before the first seeds are in the ground, the garden is fostering curiosity, respect for nature, and excitement for future growth. This foundation ensures that when we do begin planting, students will not only be ready but also invested in the success of the garden.","fullyFundedDate":1749503913237,"projectUrl":"project/digging-into-life-skills/9396405/","projectTitle":"Digging into Life Skills","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bester","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2339200_orig.jpg?crop=2448,2448,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749062769300","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2339200"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2521","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":57,"numTeachers":13,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":27,"percentWhite":54,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":"4.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":58.6,"schoolId":2521,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about North Shelby School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"North Shelby School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/cleveland-county-school-district/north-shelby-school/2521"}
