Students use them to record their thinking, reflect on lessons, and document their progress in both math and science. During a recent science investigation, students used their notebooks to write predictions, draw models, and record observations about how matter changes. One memorable moment was when students eagerly flipped back through their pages to compare their original predictions to their final conclusions, proudly seeing how their thinking had grown. When the notebooks were first distributed, students were excited to have a special place to call their own. Many carefully wrote their names on the cover and immediately began organizing their pages, showing a sense of ownership and pride in their learning.\r\n\r\nBecause of our donors' generosity, these notebooks are helping students become more thoughtful and independent learners. They now have a space to explain their reasoning, reflect on challenges, and celebrate their progress. Next, students will continue using their notebooks during small-group lessons and ongoing science investigations to record data, write explanations, and develop evidence-based conclusions. They will also use them to prepare for upcoming assessments by reviewing past entries and tracking their growth. These notebooks are more than just supplies—they are empowering students to think deeply, stay organized, and see themselves as capable, confident learners.","fullyFundedDate":1766449361152,"projectUrl":"project/the-notebook/9970112/","projectTitle":"The Notebook","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fields","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10387882"},{"teacherId":10387882,"projectId":9965277,"letterContent":"Our new whiteboards have quickly become one of the most used tools in our classroom. My students use them daily during math and science to solve problems, draw models, and explain their thinking in real time. During a recent fraction lesson, students worked in pairs to model equivalent fractions and justify their answers before sharing with the class. The ability to quickly write, erase, and revise their work has encouraged risk-taking and deeper discussion. When the boards first arrived, the excitement was immediate—students were eager to grab markers and start writing! They loved having their own space to show their thinking, and even my quieter students became more confident participants.\r\n\r\nThanks to our donors' generosity, these whiteboards have truly increased engagement and collaboration. Donors got a peek at our classroom energy, but what's next is even more exciting. We are beginning a hands-on science investigation where students will use the whiteboards to record predictions, collect data, and sketch models of their observations. They will also use them during small-group review sessions as we prepare for upcoming assessments, allowing me to quickly check for understanding and give immediate feedback. These boards are not just materials—they are tools that are helping my students think critically, communicate clearly, and grow academically every day.","fullyFundedDate":1766142910628,"projectUrl":"project/help-kids/9965277/","projectTitle":"Help Kids","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fields","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10387882"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_15002","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":374,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":70,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":72.7,"schoolId":15002,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about North Highlands Elementary on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"North Highlands Elementary","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/louisiana/caddo-parish-public-schools/north-highlands-elementary-school/15002"}
