The Bambu Labs 3D printer that was purchased through your donation is already up and running. Our 3D printers are used everyday by our students. With this addition to our STEAM Lab, we are able to not only print at faster speeds but are able to have more reliable printing outcomes.\r\nOur STEAM Lab is currently being used by our Computer Science, Integrated Agriculture, and Design Fundamentals classes. In Design Fundamentals, we use the 3D printers everyday to create products that have been designed by our students using computer aided drafting and other design software. In the near future, our Integrated Agriculture class will be using the printers to create 3D topographical models of properties scanned using drones. Once we have students fully trained on the technology, we are hoping to be able to run our own retail shop with products that the students have designed and manufactured. \r\nMany of my students have become extremely adept at CAD design and 3D printing. They are eager to start using and learning how to operate the printer that you helped fund. One of the features that my students are most excited about is the printers ability to print up to 40-50% faster than our other printers in the lab. Along with the faster print speed, the printer is completely trouble free with very little maintenance. The quality of the prints are also a huge improvement as well. The print quality will help to cut down on printing errors that lead to wasting materials. We cannot wait to fully integrate your donation into our curriculum.","fullyFundedDate":1763664911596,"projectUrl":"project/full-steam-ahead-making-fine-art-with-t/9827085/","projectTitle":"Full STEAM ahead: making fine art with technology!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Shiner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2590257"},{"teacherId":6564756,"projectId":9857830,"letterContent":"Your generous donation of filament for our 3D printers in our STEAM lab is beneficial because our high school computer science students will be able to reinforce their computational thinking by using software to design their own 3D objects. They will be able to see how digital code becomes their creation through a physical output. We can have hands-on experience with our vocabulary terms such as algorithms, constraints, iteration, and optimization. They receive real life demonstrations of the digital-to-physical pipeline that is used in real life today to create manufactured parts in various fields of study. My students are encouraged to do real time debugging and testing if their print fails by analyzing: incorrect geometry in their model, slicer settings, and the configuration of their printer. Finally, our computer science program is project-based learning. Our classroom is not about rote memorization of facts and taking tests, they are doing!\r\n Since this is my first year as a computer science teacher, the majority of my students have not been able to experiment with 3D printers. Many, if not all, are itching to learn this part of computer science. Unfortunately, filament is very expensive to allow for this needed trial and error. Your donation has made it possible for my students to experience this piece of computing technology without the stress and anxiety of messing up and not having the materials to try again. \r\n The digital scales allow students to measure the amount of filament left on the spool and compare it with what amount of material is needed for their creation. They can then calculate the cost of the material for each item. \r\n I have had many students ask about 3D printing and have expressed great interest in learning.
