Through engaging characters, the books teach skills like empathy, kindness, perseverance, and problem-solving. Along with these life skills, students also practice literacy strategies such as making predictions, identifying the main idea, and making text-to-self connections. The combination of SEL and literacy makes the stories both meaningful and memorable.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an interactive experience. We often begin with a read-aloud, where students listen, look at the illustrations, and engage in guided discussion. Students are encouraged to share their thoughts, ask questions, and connect the story to their own experiences. Afterward, we use activities, role-play, or journaling to reinforce the lesson. Reading isn't just about decoding words—it's about building comprehension, communication, and self-awareness. \r\n\r\nThanking for your willingness to contribute to my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1743292295622,"projectUrl":"project/feelings-and-emotions/9206941/","projectTitle":"Feelings and Emotions","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Amber","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9975562"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_69798","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":400,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":18,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":59,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"3 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"22.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":64.7,"schoolId":69798,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about North Godwin Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"North Godwin Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/godwin-heights-school-district/north-godwin-elementary-school/69798"}
