The photo printer also allows us to quickly print photographs and visual materials that help students make connections between what they are learning and the world around them. Their faces lit up as they explored the different seating options and talked about which ones they wanted to try. For many of my students, especially those who are learning English, having a comfortable and inviting space can make a big difference in how confident and focused they feel in the classroom. They were so excited to know that they would have choices in how and where they work.\r\nWe are using the flexible seating primarily during independent work time. Students are learning that flexible seating is not simply about getting to sit somewhere different—it is about making responsible choices that help them learn. They are beginning to think about which seating option helps them stay focused, complete their work, and feel comfortable while working independently.\r\nOur next steps are to establish routines and expectations for using the flexible seating arrangement. Students will have opportunities to try different seating options and reflect on which choices work best for them. We will also work together to create classroom expectations for sharing materials, taking care of the seating, maintaining appropriate noise levels, and staying focused during independent work.\r\nI am especially excited about how this opportunity will encourage my students to become more independent and responsible learners. I have been able to access so many different interactive resources to help my students grasp new concepts in fun ways. \r\nTheir favorite activity so far has been the phonemic yoga activities. They have a lot of fun stretching and moving to identify correct words or letter sounds. Another fan favorite are the jeopardy reading skill games. They have fun practicing their reading skill within a competition game. These are just some of the interactive supplements I have been able to provide my students to make learning fun, interactive, and helping to bridge their academic gaps.
