For many, this was their first regular access to healthy, appealing options in the classroom, and their faces truly lit up. Some even asked if they could take extras home to their little siblings. However, in 5th grade we made it a priority along with math, reading and social studies. They seem to comfort many of our students. This was a hidden benefit of having these animals, as well as to introduce and have them interact with animals they may never see in their life time living above the arctic. We will be beginning our Ocean Unit in January.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for the gemstones. The students were so excited chipping away at their spheres of clay to see what gemstone they received. Many students are asking for a rock tumbler for Christmas.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, the posters come in so handy when I am explaining science concepts.
