With the new cameras, students are learning how to frame shots, focus their lenses, and carefully build scenes using clay or Lego figures—all while developing storytelling, editing, and computer skills. What used to be a frustrating experience with blurry webcam images has been transformed into a creative, focused process where students can see their ideas come to life in crisp, detailed animation. These new cameras are easy to set up and stay stable, allowing students to focus more on their creativity and less on technical struggles.\r\n\r\nThe response from students has been incredibly positive. Many students who were previously hesitant about the patience required for stop motion ended up loving the process—and some even chose to create extra films just for fun! We've seen epic Lego battles, morphing clay animations, and even fake commercials made with clever humor and impressive technique. Most touching of all, several students who have struggled with independent work throughout the semester found their stride in stop motion. They eagerly tackled challenges, revised their work, and stuck with their vision—developing confidence, perseverance, and pride in what they created. The new technology has provided them with an exciting opportunity to not only compete in games but also collaborate, strategize, and support one another. Through practice and friendly competition, they are building critical thinking skills, communication abilities, and resilience. The computers you helped fund are not just for gaming—they're tools for learning, as students research strategies, teach each other new techniques, and explore the mechanics behind the games they love.\r\n\r\nThe excitement around our esports team is undeniable. Students who once spent lunch periods isolated on their phones are now eagerly gathering for practice, forming friendships, and exploring new interests. They are developing a curiosity about how games work, even expressing interest in modding and game development. For many, esports has become their first real extracurricular passion, giving them a place to belong. Students who previously shied away from traditional team sports are finding confidence in competition, learning to handle setbacks, and discovering the joy of self-improvement.
