It has been amazing to watch him thrive and learn his school. He has been with almost the same group of students since he was in K4 years ago. Everyone is glad to have a chance to play together during indoor recess. \r\n Indoor recess is a MUST in my class during the inclement weather days here in Wisconsin. This indoor recess time helps bring my students together in a way that wouldn't happen otherwise. During indoor recess, I play with my students and we do not use computers for entertainment. Students play with the 'old school' toys that bring us together as a class community. My students and I have conversations, play in varied self-selected groupings and enjoy time together. I believe that play is something that is missing in the lives of children of all ages. Providing meaningful, enjoyable play opportunities into the school setting is important to me as their teacher. Seeing my students enjoy toys that I loved as a kid is a great way for them to connect with me and each other. After our 'unplugged recess' sessions my students are more prepared for their academic work and the mood is lighter in my class. Play has had a positive impact on my class. Thank you for supporting my goal of meaningful play in the classroom.\r\n I believe in inclusion for my students. Having new toys and games is a treat for my visually impaired student to share with his classmates. I want to say thank you again for supporting me and my students. The toys have been a big hit! \r\n My visually impaired student has almost mastered a few of the games already! To further aid this student, I have used Braille stickers to label some of the pieces for the magnets and a few games that have multiple pieces. The students are looking forward to Braille Uno and Connect 4. It means so much when others in the local and nationwide communities understand what it means for all students to be included in their academic and social experiences during the school day.
