We got to finally use the electric cultivator that was donated to the school without the necessary battery and charger station. The students got to see how much easier it is to weed and prep the soil in more open areas where plants are not at risk. \r\nThe leaf blower is so much faster and more efficient than using 5 kids with brooms. The brooms help with the big stuff. Then come in behind with the leaf blower to make it look awesome. \r\n\r\nIts now fall and weeds are not as much of an issue but the vinegar is so good at killing the weeds that remain in the open mulch walkways to keep them looking nice. Our school garden benefits our school population through a farm to table program where the vegetables grown are provided to the cafeteria and used for school lunches. The kids enjoy it so much, they stop me in the cafeteria to show me they have food from the garden on their lunch tray. \r\n\r\nVegetables also go home with our students that are members of the garden club and over the summer with the families that come and help in the garden over the summer. \r\nWe have one of the few year round garden programs and this last year we harvested cabbage and collard greens just days after a snow. \r\n\r\nThese materials will help is expand what we are growing in those cold winter months. Our veggies made it through the cold weather and we've been harvesting weekly for the last month. We've been harvesting collard greens, kale, cabbage, broccoli and more. We now have fresh crops of onions, beets, carrots, radishes, peas and more growing in the garden. The garden never ends. We just change what we are growing. When its cold, we plant cold hardy veggies. \r\n\r\nRoger, the bearded dragon is very comfortable in his lair. He comes out to eat and explore. He loves being with others. The kids are so excited about Roger and I do have to refocus them on the lesson at hand when Roger gets insistent on coming out to play. \r\nNow that we have the heating pad, he explores the other side of the tank more than he did before.
