More students came to watch it in its entirety for our evening and afternoon shows. \r\n\r\nMy middle school students were also given the opportunity, thanks to your kindness to read The Wizard of Oz and compare and contrast it to our production. Students learned how one piece of literature can be altered into different versions for different reasons in our case, performance. This easy to read version was a great addition to their research into the The Wizard of Oz and the The Wiz. \r\n\r\nI had a student teacher at the time and she loved reading this with our middle school students. It helped them follow the story of our musical so well and they were able to compare and contrast in ways that I never dreamed possible. The book in hand gave them a big dive into visually connecting the characters and the plot. \r\n\r\nOur school testing scores have been some of the lowest in the state in the past. As a theatre teacher who works with middle school and high school students I am trying to do my part to bridge the gap between reading and comprehending for those who need that extra help. In my class I love to read and am happy to pass my love of reading to my students as often as I can work it into my curriculum. You helped give me that opportunity by giving to this project. \r\n\r\nThank you again for giving us the opportunity and materials to help my students see our spring production with new eyes. We were able to use these books not only to engage students, but also to support their learning and develop their writing skills as they discussed the text in their writing.
