These colorful instruments have added instant energy, creativity, and hands-on learning to our music classroom.\r\n\r\nWe began using the Boomwhackers right away during our melody and harmony unit. Students worked in small groups to perform color-coded songs, each child responsible for a different pitch. One of my favorite moments was watching a group successfully play a simple melody together for the first time—they realized that every part mattered, and they celebrated when it all came together in sync.\r\n\r\nWhen the Boomwhackers were first introduced, the students' excitement was immediate. Their eyes lit up as they recognized the bright colors, and the room filled with laughter as they explored the different sounds. Many students were amazed that something so simple could create real music, and they were eager to take turns and try new patterns.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be using the Boomwhackers for composition projects, where students will create their own short melodies and ostinatos. The class was buzzing with excitement when the packages of paper came in! My students could not wait to dive into using the construction paper to integrate art into their learning! \r\n\r\nSince receiving the construction paper, we have used the paper to create 2D and 3D shapes during our shape unit, by creating 2D squirrels and snowflakes. We have also used the construction paper to enhance our illustrations in our writing to add a 3D effect and to use different media. The biggest way we have used the construction paper was during our Holidays around the world. Each day, students learned about a different country around the world and what holidays they celebrate. To immerse students in culture and build a deeper understanding of what the holidays felt/looked like, students each day did a craft or activity that went along with the holiday. Students used the construction paper to make wreaths, ornaments, Christmas cards, crowns, gingerbread houses, gingerbread people, etc. Students were then able to take their creations home with them to enjoy during the holiday season. \r\n\r\nThe copy paper we received has also helped tremendously in allowing our class to use writing paper each day instead of a writing journal. Although the writing journal was nice in allowing their work to be in one place, it was very difficult for my students to write in the lines provided at their age and development. With the copy paper, we have been able to use a writing paper that is appropriate for my students' writing, as it gives them enough space to form their letters and stay within the lines. \r\n\r\nYour donations did not just provide our class with materials, but they sparked excitement, curiosity, and creativity in our classroom.
