Each morning, students have the opportunity to select one of the STEM bins to play with before our day begins. They also have an opportunity to use these materials during various times throughout the day and at the end of the day during developmental centers. Sometimes they will be given a specific assignment with the materials. For example, we recently took some of the STEM bin materials out to the school garden and constructed flowers using different materials. I love watching them work together to create!\r\n\r\nThe students first saw the materials during our Open House before school started. Already, they were so excited that we had all of these fun building materials. They ask many times throughout the day if we can get the STEM bins out, and they are a great motivator at the end of the day.\r\n\r\nI am looking forward to continuing to find new and engaging ways to use these materials throughout the year. I love challenging them to build something specific, and I also really enjoy using them during our Social Emotional Learning block to encourage cooperation and working together with classmates.","fullyFundedDate":1747092597148,"projectUrl":"project/morning-bins-for-1st-grade/9300705/","projectTitle":"Morning Bins for 1st Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kemper","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8379816_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746041062841","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8379816"},{"teacherId":9229534,"projectId":9428300,"letterContent":"The impact my new printer is having on my classroom is indescribable. I was able to create colorful and engaging task boxes for my students to use independently during intervention time this year. This is huge because it helps me to meet students where they are and individualize their learning. This is hard to accomplish and keep them engaged with black and white pictures/words/activities. \r\nI'm able to print color pictures of my students (Kindergarten) to see around the room. Many of my students are learning to recognize that printed words have meaning, and being able to create colored labels for items in addition to the words is a very impactful benefit. \r\nI am certain that I will see quicker progress in literacy skills this school year for this reason. I'm very thankful for programs like this that help teachers provide the necessary materials, enabling them to have the best chance at guiding young learners to success.","fullyFundedDate":1750796290743,"projectUrl":"project/crayons-arent-enoughwe-need-color-prin/9428300/","projectTitle":"Crayons Aren’t Enough—We Need Color Printing!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Banker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9229534_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750695540478","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9229534"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_49018","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":465,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":57,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":49018,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about New Highland Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"New Highland Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/hardin-county-school-district/new-highland-elementary-school/49018"}
