This gift is very special because it is a learning tool for my group of 20 phonics students this year, and every student I will encounter for years to come.\r\n When my students unboxed these dictionaries there was incredible excitement throughout the room. Dictionaries? Yes! they were so, very excited to receive something new, unused, and just for them and their learning experience. It was an incredible sight to behold.\r\n We are all very thankful and grateful for your thoughtfulness and generosity. I look forward to watching my students continue to explore the wonder of words through the use of these dictionaries.\r\nThank you, \r\nMrs. Becker and my class of Word Wizards","fullyFundedDate":1756294735781,"projectUrl":"project/dictionary-dynamos/9302690/","projectTitle":"Dictionary Dynamos!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Becker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6804473_orig.jpg?crop=1653,1654,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1567803186222","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6804473"},{"teacherId":8154026,"projectId":9197227,"letterContent":"My students were beyond excited when I told them about the materials that were donated to us! After a long week, they were so excited to go on an adventure! There were enough binoculars for every child (several kids were missing), and each child got the color he/she wanted. It was a beautiful September day with all students in tow when we marched out the school doors to take a nature walk. \r\n\r\nThe kids right away started to use their binoculars, crouching low and looking far into the distance. We walked the entire perimeter of the school, fully enjoying the day and the tools you donated to us! They love using the magnifying glasses to observe ant hills (which we have SO many of), and the binoculars to observe butterflies and birds. The animal tracking game is a new favorite of my class as well as another one! \r\n\r\nI have a few photos I'd love to share of my little ones using the binoculars. THANK YOU for making this possible. This will not be the last time we use them, and I can see these tools being used in conjunction with science lessons for many years to come and multiple classes.","fullyFundedDate":1746785302013,"projectUrl":"project/wilderness-explorers/9197227/","projectTitle":"Wilderness Explorers!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mueller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8154026_orig.png?crop=271,271,x30,y4&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742271874109","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8154026"},{"teacherId":8154026,"projectId":9180106,"letterContent":"I wanted to reach out and express my appreciation for the learning tools you provided for my class. We have used every single thing! The math tools are so excellent and I am looking forward to using them again and again, for each first grade class that comes through my doors. \r\n\r\n The little whiteboard paddle boards were perfect for math class, small enough to distribute quickly, but large enough to write equations and answers. They allowed for quick engagement for my students. \r\n\r\nMy students LOVED the balance monster from Number Blocks! I look forward to using this in conjunction with lessons and watching my students pick up the concepts so much quicker. \r\n\r\n The hundreds pocket chart was exactly what was needed and can be displayed in the room all year long. The kids were very pleased with this visual and were able to come up and interact with it when needed. It helped some of my struggling students understand assignments more easily than before. \r\n\r\n The number stax are simply ideal for teaching number sense and how numbers interact together. They are such a perfect way for students to visualize that 8 and 2 make ten, as well as 5 and 5. \r\n\r\nThese materials have been so helpful for my class! As I look towards another school year, I anticipate using them again and again. Your donation has helped to aid the learning of first graders for the next several years. I plan to use these to help all learners, especially struggling ones, to better understand math and not give up. My hope is they will grow to become confident learners and enjoy math and learning as they grow into adults. \r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1742502748864,"projectUrl":"project/mathematicians-and-scientists-unite-han/9180106/","projectTitle":"Mathematicians and Scientists Unite! Your kindness has truly blossomed in our special education classroom, bringing a new dimension to learning and sparking a genuine love for stories within our students.\r\nYou mentioned that many of you are fellow book lovers, and while you appreciate the joy of reading, you might wonder how these new texts are specifically enriching the educational experience for our students. In special education, reading instruction is often tailored to individual needs and learning styles. These new books have allowed us to introduce and reinforce a variety of crucial skills and lessons, including:\r\n * Vocabulary Expansion: The diverse range of topics and writing styles exposes students to new words in meaningful contexts, aiding in their overall language development.\r\n * Comprehension Strategies: We're using these books to practice essential comprehension skills like identifying main ideas, sequencing events, and making inferences, often through visual aids and hands-on activities that the books inspire.\r\n * Social-Emotional Learning: Many of the stories explore themes of friendship, empathy, perseverance, and overcoming challenges, providing valuable opportunities for discussions about emotions and social interactions.\r\n * Communication Skills: The books act as wonderful springboards for conversations, encouraging students to express their thoughts, ask questions, and share their interpretations. For some of our students with limited verbal communication, the illustrations and predictable text offer alternative ways to engage with the story and participate.\r\n * Building Background Knowledge: The variety of genres and topics helps students build a broader understanding of the world around them, connecting new information to existing knowledge and fostering curiosity.\r\nSo, what does reading look like in our classroom now? It's a vibrant and multi-sensory experience! You might see:\r\n * Small Group Reading Sessions: Students gathered with an educator, exploring a book together, pointing to pictures, and discussing the story.\r\n * Independent Reading Corners: Cozy spaces where students can choose a book that interests them and explore it at their own pace.\r\n * Interactive Read-Alouds: Engaging sessions where educators bring the stories to life through expressive voices, gestures, and props.\r\n * Book-Based Activities: Art projects, sensory bins, and dramatic play inspired by the themes and characters in the books, making learning interactive and fun.\r\n * Assistive Technology Integration: For some students, we utilize tools like page turners, audiobooks, and digital text with adjustable font sizes to ensure accessibility and engagement.\r\nWe've already seen particular students connect deeply with these new additions. For instance, Michael, who sometimes struggles with verbal expression, has become captivated by a book about animals. He now eagerly points to the pictures, makes animal sounds, and even uses single words to describe what he sees. Sarah, who benefits from visual supports, loves the books with bright, clear illustrations, which help her follow the narrative and retell the story in her own way. And for David, who enjoys repetitive text, the predictable nature of some of the donated books has boosted his confidence and encouraged him to \"read\" along with us.\r\nYour generous gift has not just provided books; it has opened doors to new learning opportunities, fostered communication, and ignited a genuine enthusiasm for reading in our students. Thank you for making such a meaningful difference in their lives. We are so grateful for your support in nurturing their growth and development.","fullyFundedDate":1744290657475,"projectUrl":"project/story-seed-project-growing-readers-one/9222803/","projectTitle":"Story Seed Project: Growing Readers, One Book at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sage","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9988374_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753744449944","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9988374"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_129356","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":263,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":91,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":129356,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Necedah Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Necedah Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wisconsin/necedah-area-school-district/necedah-elementary-school/129356"}
